so I upgraded mine and juniors memberships to MCG legends, as discussed in other threads, our membership prices are bloody daylight robbery compared to other clubs.

now I get a personal phone call, would you like to make a $200 "donation" in return for a single raffle ticket!

um, no, we are not all on footy player wages!

seriously, though, the greed is getting ridiculous. how much money do they need? high membership prices, the most members should equal grateful not trying to make me feel like I have to give more!

ps I said no!

Did anyone bring these requests up at the AGM? If so, what was the response?

I must say, the barrage of emails gets a little tiring.

I had that phone call about 5 or 6 weeks ago. Had the same one last year to.
Legends membership for 2 is not cheap. A $200 raffle ticket seems a bit steep to me after membership fees are paid. Yes it was easy to say no, but I don't like being hounded on the phone. It's going too far.

I posted something similar a year or two ago when they phoned me and asked for the same thing. I already part with over $500 for a legends membership so I think it's a bit cheeky asking supporters to fork out another $200 for a 'raffle ticket'. They've been phoning me every year since. I'm getting a bit sick of it too. Ask the players to take a $200 cut.

Excuse my ignorance, but what's wrong with kindly declining the offer and getting on with your life, instead of complaining about it?

The club wouldn't run the raffle if it completely failed every year. They wouldn't run it if there weren't people out there who can afford to buy the tickets.

To accuse anyone there of 'greed' is absolutely ridiculous and borderline comical.

What are the prizes? They've never rung me.

I thought our membership prices were quite reasonable compared to other clubs??

It's not just legends members that get the phone call. I only have a 3 game membership (don't judge me, I have an infant to look after), and they have called me 2 years in a row now.

They have to pay for the company that makes and holds up the run thru banner somehow. Plus the extra admin staff to administer the banner making.

I was called a couple of weeks ago. I said I couldn't afford another $200 on top of my membership. The woman was OK about it...didn't try to press the hard sell at all. In fact she said how appreciative the CFC was of memberships...and left it at that!
I certainly wasn't offended.

no its not

the memberships go up (ok we had one freeze) the packs go down, do you get fifty million emails a week trying to sell you something?? ridiculously priced luncheons etc? its all too much. I don't like having to say no, and where as ill happily hang up on telemarketers, when they ring they great you like they know you. I don't care if they are friendly, I don't want the call.

it is greed they have the highest membership every, they turn a pretty good profit. the price of their supplies has gone down (those hats are gross, bring back adidas!) check my history, I rarely complain about anything at the club, but I don like this. I think its rude. I should not have to make an excuse. they shouldn't ask.
