Post subject: That mark but what about the goal... | |

What do people think of Did's chances of taking out both goal and mark of the round! Can anyone nominate any other candidates from the weekends matches. Can anyone remember the one player ever awarded both in the same round. |

I'd reckon G. Ablett (snr) would have done it a few times |

I'm pretty sure Micheal Mitchell from the Tigers won both mark of the year & goal of the year in 1990. Both of Dids' plays of the day will take some beating. |

How can you go past Goodes goal last round for goal of the year?
A superb effort that will be a worthy winner.
Sorry Dids. |

I agree Eunos, it will be hard to beat Goodes. But to be fair Woody was only talking about goal and mark of the week - and Dids certainly would be a contender in both categories.
Johnson#26 has a good memory - Michael Mitchell won both awards in 1990. The mark was a one-hander over the pack, the goal a length-of-the-field multiple bounce effort.
And scoobydoo is also right about Carlton's Peter Bosustow (correct spelling) who also won both, I can't remember what year, 81 or 82 is my guess. The mark was similar to Taz' effort last year, but the goal was extraordinary - in the forward pocket, he dived over a defender's kick to smother on the boundary line, recovered to gather the ball and snapped a goal from a standing start. One for the ages, no matter who you support!
And for Mick Plays Favourites - hasn't said anything USEFUL since he got here, never mind encouraging.

Cheers everyone, no doubt about the quality of the Goodes goal Eunos - that was one fine effort. |
