In the warm-up match between NZ & India in May, NZ bundled out India for 179.

From cricinfo: "India were bundled out for 179 in just 39.2 overs in their first warm-up game against New Zealand. Under overcast skies on a surface with plenty of grass cover, Trent Boult thrilled the fans at The Oval to end with 4 for 33. He was well-supported by Jimmy Neesham who strengthened his case for a first-team place with 3 for 26."

In that game, CdG bowled Kohli through the gate. They say that in the right conditions, CdG is a totally different bowler.

Resumption!

Single, dot (excellent yorker from Bhuvi), 2 (weak throw from the boundary), single (block and run!), two.

NZ 5/217 (47).

M. Taylor says 240 will be competitive.

-------------------------------------------

Bumrah bowls a rank full toss Shocked, but NZ just get a single.
And another full toss next ball Shocked. This time NZ get 2.
Next ball a slower ball.

But a run out! Jadeja gets a direct hit from the outfield.
Taylor out. 74 (90).

NZ 6/225 (48 ).

Next ball, Jadeja takes an excellent catch in the outfield. Latham hit it well and it was headed over Jadeja's head. He had to reach up and then be careful of where the boundary was.

Latham goes.

NZ 7/225 (48.1).

Ian Smith says Jadeja is on a "fielding hat-trick".
.....

The broadcast predictor says 248.

And Santner creams the first 4 of the morning.

But another wicket, the second of the over. Henry holes out.

8/232 (49).

They'll need a huge final over to get up to the broadcast's prediction.

Final over. Bumrah has been taking off all the pace from the ball.

First ball: Another full toss from Bumrah Shocked. Only a single. Santner is annoyed that he didn't get more.
Second ball: Short. Swing and miss.
Third ball: Slog for 2.

Kholi is taking a long time setting his fields.

Fourth ball: Single. Santner is back on strike.
Fifth ball: Driven. Diving stop. 2.
Sixth ball: Edge. Single.

NZ finish on 8/239 (50).

Odds at change of innings: India 81%, NZ 19%.

Ian Smith: "Clearly not enough... Having said that... I think they've given themselves enough if they bowl really well to ask India serious questions."

Healy: "Under by 30 or 40."

M. Taylor thinks batting will be easier today.

Boult to open.

Quick single off the first ball. And Sharma tucks the next ball around the corner to get off the mark too.

The broadcast predictor says NZ 2%, India 98%.

Henry gets Rohit Sharma!! NZ have hope.

India 1/4 (1.3). Kohli in.

And Kohli edges on the bounce to second slip!

Henry is bowling well.

Manjrekar says Sharma was caught on the crease, but that's the way he always plays.

Odds: India 72%, NZ 28%.
......................................

And first ball next Boult over, Kohli has a big swish wide of off and misses.

A few balls later, Kohli given LBW! He reviews! Front foot miles behind the line... Ultra Edge is flat line. Umpire's call!! The bounce was the only doubt!

India 2/5 (2.4).

NZ are right in this. Look at what happened in the warm-up match (first post of this page). That ball straightened down the line.

M. Taylor: "It was a terrific delivery from Boult. Swung it down the line."

Boult has 3 slips for Pant.

The broadcast predictor says NZ 22%, India 78%.

The money says it's 50-50. Shocked

Another wicket! Henry gets Rahul caught behind!

India 3/5 (3.2).

Healy praises Latham's footwork.

Odds: India 32%, NZ 68%.

Indian fans are in praying pose in the stands.

Henry completes a wicket maiden.

Karthik shoulders arms and is struck on the pad. Umpire turns the shout down. NZ don't review. Boult is getting movement here.

Manjrekar talks about the technical frailties of the top-order Indian batsmen. Rahul was caught between playing and leaving, which has "haunted him for a long time", Sanjay says. Sharma lunged across without seeing the line.

At 3/6 (5.3), the broadcast predictor says NZ 30%, India 70%.

There is tension in the air. There is drama with every ball. This never happens when it's a flat-track slogathon.

Pant gets a loose ball and strokes it to the cover boundary for 4.

Odds: India 36%, NZ 64%.
......................................

Nicholas on Rahul: "Like a moth to a flame."

Boult fires in a yorker to complete another maiden.

This is excellent bowling from Boult and Henry.

Nicholas: "Are you nervous?"

Ganguly: "Yes."

..............................

Karthik is still not off the mark, as Boult bowls the 9th over.
19 balls and counting.

Ganguly on Dhoni: "Should he be in at 5, ahead of Karthik?"

Nicholas: "You captained India. You tell me."

Ganguly: "Yes."

Finally, Karthik guides the ball past the three slips for a boundary to get off the mark.

I'm not rubbishing India or those comms.

Just smiling at the vagaries of prediction.

I cannot recognise Ravi Shastri in the stands. It must be age, or the sunglasses and baseball cap.

Pant hits a 4 through the covers, and the crowd erupts.

Karthik takes guard. Has he never been down this end so far?

Nicholas expects Ferguson and Santner soon.

Another wicket! Neesham takes a brilliant one-handed catch! Karthik gone.

India 4/24 (10).

It was Jimmy's left (non-dominant) hand.

Healy: "He'll never forget it. That's a lifelong memory."

Did Jimmy Neesham just catch the World Cup?

Henry has 3 wickets.

The broadcast predictor says NZ 63%, India 37%.

cricinfo's forecast drops from India 29 to 17%.

Ganguly says it's "inexplicable" and "unacceptable" that M.S. Dhoni has still not come in. The new batsman is Pandya.

-------------------------

Boult may be tiring. He's strayed down leg a couple of times.
Maybe time for Ferguson and Santner.

Odds: India 27%, NZ 73%.
