Grundy: "Am I good enough? To my teammates... you've told me I am."

He thanks many, including Rachel. "To me... you're my MVP."

I was going to say his hairband is green, but I feared that would be disputed by other Nicksters.

Well, I agree with the coaches' voting, except for one. (Won't mention who - it's too good of a night to be critical and judgemental Smile)
I am so grateful that the coaches have recognized our backmen - love them all and so happy to see four of them in the top ten.

Best speech ever from Bruz!!!! Smile It blindsides me again and again to think he's only 23!!!!

Pendles is simply an absolute legend. words are not enough.

Brodie not sounding as though he's leaving, but then neither did Dayne Beams. Excellent speech.

Bruz (or Pretendlebury as we refer to him in my household because my better half always gets him mixed up with Pendles in play) has gone to a whole new level of respect in my books. Love this bloke and his bleeding heart awkwardness. Mongrel on field, all love off. This guy is Black and White.

Well said Pierate16!!! Exactly how I feel about Bruz too.
Please tell your better half that I used to think he looked so much like Pendles too, especially when he first started playing.!! No mistaking him for who he is now though Wink

The Gordon Coventry Award (leading goal-kicker) goes to Brody Mihocek (36 goals).

The only other payers to lead our goal-kicking with 36 for the season are Chris Tarrant (twice), Murray Weideman, Bob Rose and - wait for it - Gordon Coventry. Some reasonable company to be keeping.

Ultimately, the way the voting works, the top 10 players are, by and large, those who played the most games. The only players in our top 10 this year that didn’t play all 24 matches are Sidebottom (23) and Howe (21). The Copeland tends to reward consistency over brilliance, so players like De Goey and Moore (each 17) were never going to get a look in, still less Elliott (16), Stephenson (14) or Adams (12), irrespective of how they performed on the days they did play.

That’s not necessarily a bad thing - but it does mean that one needs to be wary of what it means for a player to miss the top 10.

Next year I’d love to see Beams, JDG, Adams, Moore, Stevo all challenging for the awards.
