BREAKING NEWS: TRAVIS Cloke and Collingwood have agreed to a five-year deal, ending one of the longest player contract sagas in AFL history.
The deal, which will be announced shortly, will earn Cloke between $3.75million and $4million until the end of the 2017 season.
Two meetings yesterday clinched the deal.
One was held with Collingwood officials and Cloke's management, the other between the Clokes and manager Ralph Carr.
It was at the second the meeting where Cloke agreed to sign.
It ends almost 12 months of talks, which were suspended about three months ago.
Talks resumed immediately after the season finished.
The power forward this afternoon put pen to paper on a five-year contract.
Collingwood is due to release a statement about 4pm confirming Cloke’s signature.
It ends months of intense speculation, with both parties agreeing in July to put talks on hold until the end of the season.
Cloke has since been courted by a number of rival clubs, including the Mick Malthouse-coached Carlton. Malthouse said he and the Blues would “absolutely” make a play for the 25-year-old.
But Pies fans will breath a huge sigh of relief, with Cloke today committing to Collingwood until the end of 2017.
Contract negotiations progressed quickly following the club’s preliminary final defeat to Sydney last Friday night. Cloke’s management team met with Collingwood officials yesterday morning, before Cloke and his father David met that afternoon to thrash out of the finer points of a new deal.
Under AFL rules, the Magpies had the opportunity to match the best offer from a rival club for Cloke because he was a restricted free agent.

Don't agree with the five years but at least we won't have to put up with speculation about this crap next year. Just tell me we don't have any big name players up for contract renewal at the end of next year...... pretty please!!

The only thing I have to say is that if it was that easy (6 days after our last game), why couldn't we just get it done during the early part of the season? Ecstatic though!
