David King constructs package trades like he’s playing EA Sports in the late 90’s!Pep wrote:David King must of read this thread and wanted to get in on the action!!
He has proposed that we trade De Goey to GWs for pick 2 + Riccardi
So we get Daicos and keep pick 2
I'm guessing he means we do other trades for picks so we can keep pick 2 and get Daicos with those points...
Sadly, the draft isn’t David Kings wheelhouse. The only way we could engineer securing both Daicos and the next best player in the draft ( Jason Horne - Francis ) is to trade up to pick one. Then we would select Horne - Francis at #1 and have the points already put away for Daicos when he is called out immediately after pick one.Pep wrote:David King must of read this thread and wanted to get in on the action!!

Conversely, the moment Collingwood were to go to the draft with pick two, it effectively removes any chance of them securing both Daicos and Horne - Francis.
Whoever holds the number one pick going into the night will end up with Horne - Francis, even though he will likely be the number three selection by the time his name is called out.
Even if King meant that Collingwood would then on trade pick #2 for a quality player, what’s the point of that waste of time. Wouldn’t you just trade DeGoey out and bring someone back in anyway.
He clearly doesn’t know how the process works which for a highly paid commentator is a serious joke!Pep wrote:David King must of read this thread and wanted to get in on the action!!

The match day thread is for unfiltered BS knee jerk reactions. The time for level headed comment comes after.
I agree with this and the reasoning is simple. With the type of draftees we have invested in over the last two seasons ( + N Daicos ) it’s very likely one of them will pass him by within two seasons and be on a lot less money than W H E anyway.Swanny2011 wrote:We should look at trading WHE. Would most likely hold a higher trade value than some players already mentioned (as he is just a tease) and provides Collingwood very little game day value. Someone at the top end of the ladder may be interested.
We would get a little something for him but more importantly, we would free up some cap space for a priority need.
Yeah, I agree.Pies2016 wrote:I agree with this and the reasoning is simple. He’s superfluous to our future requirements and has been treading water for a few seasons now. At his best he’s a high marking impact player with great skills, but far too often we’ve seen him go missing in important games and reluctant to get physical with the opposition.
I guess it comes down to whether a team like GC, Geelong, Sydney or The Bulldogs would take him in some form of a deal for Brodie, Constable, Stephen’s or Lipinski?

You missed the bit where he said we’d do a deal with North so they wouldn’t pick ND at 1. If that were to happen, we’d potentially use 2 on Roberts, Ward or Callaghan, and then step in and match Nick when he was bid for.Pies2016 wrote:Sadly, the draft isn’t David Kings wheelhouse. Ok. I didn’t see any of it. I just responded to what Pep posted.
So for that to happen, we would still need to give up something to North just to incentivise them to do it.
In that case, you might as well ask them to go all the way and call out Darcy first, then Horne - Francis becomes their first live pick at 2 and we pick Hobbs or Callaghan or whoever at three and then Daicos is called out at four.
That is one big favour right there.
I don’t see it happening but stranger things have happened

I agree. Remember, he is on very big coin, so trading him would fast-track our ability to recruit a free agent.Swanny2011 wrote:We should look at trading WHE. At his best, WHE is a great player, but he has been terribly inconsistent, and his best form was 3 yrs ago. Although I like him as a player, I must admit I'd prefer a player with a harder edge to his game. We need to toughen up all over the ground.
