Not to mention, eight out of fifteen flags won in October. Trippy.regan is true fullback wrote:Sorry to turn "Stan the Statistician" but here are some interesting facts:
The 2010 grand final part 2 was the first win by the Pies over the Saints in a final since the second semi 1966, the day that Tuddy kicked 7 goals from a half forward flank.
Both recent premierships were won with 3 wins and a draw in finals, a unique achievement.
In recent times, including 1977, the Magpies have played in 4 finals draws. They have won 3 replays/extra time out of 4.
This premiership is the first time the Pies beat the previous year's runner-up in a grand final since 1936.
Good news for Saints. The team that Collingwood beat in the grand final won the flag fairly soon after: Essendon(1990) 3 years later, Melbourne (1958) one year later, Geelong (1953) 10 years later. Sadly South Melbourne (1936) had to wait 69 years!

2 things can we make this thread a sticky until our next GF win. Also can we leave the GF scoreboard on the BB frontpage until our next GF as well. (hopefully will not be waiting another 20years )
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

this is my first post since the victory as i have been rather busy these last few weeks, and id just like to recount my grand final weeks(!) experience. both weeks was nervous as hell, couldn't sleep, had trouble eating, smoked WAY too much of the hoochie cooch to try and calm my nerves. only until daisy kicked that goal in the last and el presidente started crying did i feel a massive release of emotion. i watched the game with my best friend and we hugged and jumped around his house for the remainder, then went down to aami park for the celebrations, it was AWESOME!! I even saw my father cry for the first time ever, he remembers 58 and everything in between. i stumbled home very early sunday morning from smith st and i was all alone and it really hit me. we are the 2010 premiers. my grandfather who passed away in 1991( two days before darren millane died, not the best week of my 7 year life at that point), gave me a collingwood candle shaped like a football , and said not to burn it down until we won another flag. last week after work i wandered on down to vic park, so many memories behind the yarra creek end as a youngster, and sat in the middle of the ground and burnt that candle down, with tears of joy streaming down my face. i love you collingwood, thank you for this wonderful feeling. What did we do in 2010? WE TORE THE ROOF OF THE SUCKER!!!!
Tear the roof off tha sucker!!!

Just noticed at half time when the boys were heading back to the rooms Heater and BJ got stuck into each other and exchange some heated words.
The two are best mates of course, but what I read into this is that the mindset of these players for the entirety of the game left no room for complacency. 'Continuous improvement' regardless of how far in front we were.
We were never going to lose.
