Donny, I actually don't much mind if we use 3-2-1 or 5-4-3-2-1, or even something more innovative like "10 votes, give them any way you like".
But I clearly remember a thread last year where votes were called for and the vast majority of Nicksters voted to use 5-4-3-2-1. It was a longish thread, as I recall, and lots of participation in it. It wasn't my thread, and I didn't especially care about the result, it just seems unfair to have an open poll, get a clear result, and then simply ignore it.
Now there are three possibilities:
1: that thread exists and provides clear evidence that we should be using 5-4-3-2-1.
2: that thread has been deleted (but why?)
3: I have completely lost the plot.
Note that these are not mutually exclusive.

I haven't really been reading General Discussion much this year, so missed these discussions.
Like Tannin, I don't have the thread on hand, but I'm not sure that there was ever anything close to consensus on the 5-4-3-2-1 proposition. In fact, I think there have been numerous polls on this in the past and the status quo was generally backed. Even so, it ought to be a democratic decision, and I'm not sure that Johnson #26, I or any other individual should be making that call. I think it's something that can and should only be decided by the Nick's community.
By the way, now is probably a good time to note that I'm probably not going to be able to count the votes this year. I've really enjoyed doing it over the past four years, but I just have far too many time commitments in 2011. I'm not holding my breath, but I hope that someone with better organising skills than myself is able to make this award a physically manifest entity in the future.
Cheers,
David

3. Dane Swan
2. Scott Pendlebury
1. Chris Dawes
Travis Cloke, Dayne Beams, Sharrod Wellingham and Steele Sidebottom all come very close as well.
I reckon Krakouer would have been in the top 5 had he played the whole match.
