We always seem to get Melbourne the week after they have a big win and are riding on the wave of emotion.

We could be five goals down at three quarter time and still beat them by 7 or 8 goals going away.
Our fitness will murder them in the end, not to mention a little thing called class (skill + experience).
Last year's results mean jack shite! We are so much better than we were then, and they haven't really improved much. Mentally we will fry them. Just flick the switch to turbo-charge boys.
I will enjoy watching them get cooked in our afterburners.

Should win one this pretty easy. The injuries on both sides cancel each other out, and we simply have more quality across the park.
McCarthy to play pretty much full time midfield with Swan out. Fasolo to slot into Beams's mostly forward role. Buckley down back allowing Leon and Heater to rotate through the middle.
The one we'll have to watch from Melbourne is Moloney. He's a very good player, and clearly their best.

I'm in the MCC with all those heringbone jackets with leather elbow patches, tartan rugs, picnic baskets with sandwiches (no crusts) thermos, Range Rovers with the little Melbourne sticker on the number plate, this is not a joke the MCC are full of them and then there is the chant "go dees" - please don't lose.swoop42 wrote:Expect a lot of Melbourne supporter's at the G on Monday.

Looking forward to this match. A great opportunity for some fringe players, and those like Wellingham and Sidebottom, to take a more prominent role with a couple of stars out.
Will be great to see Blair and JMac playing more midfield than forward - which we should with Thomas, Swan and Beams out.

Danger game. Don't underestimate the sublime skills of a few of their players:
Scully, Trengove, Grima, Green, Petard & a very good athletic ruck in Martin (snr) who played a ripper last week (amongst others). They treat this as a huge match & match up well on us.
We have players going out on injury they have very good players returning from injury. Jamar might well play. Davey out is a bonus as he invariably lifts against us.
We have been weakened by injury & stupidity (Thomas) lets hope we take home the 4 pts.

How many of these injured players would be in Melbourne's best 22?
I've highlighted 3 definites but who would be there equivalent to Beams and Macaffer?
None would be in the same class of a Swan or Thomas.
Round 11 Melbourne Injury List
Rohan Bail (knee) - 4 weeks
Clint Bartram (hip) - test
Robbie Campbell (knee soreness) - test
Aaron Davey (knee) 6-8 weeks
Ben Johnson
Jack Fitzpatrick (ankle) - 6 weeks
Colin Garland (ankle) - 5 weeks
Jack Grimes (foot) - season
Nathan Brown
Mark Jamar (knee) - 3 weeks
Darren Jolly
Michael Newton (foot) - 4-6 weeks
Jake Spencer (knee) - season
Luke Tapscott (hamstring) - 2 weeks

Am happier that they had their intense media scrutiny week last week, so they can safely return to mediocrity against us.
Our depth wil be tested as will the performance of some players that are looking far better than what they really are because they play along side the likes of Swan, Daisy etc.
Everyone know their role and play their role, or, for the linguisticly challenged among us, Everyone no there roll and play there roll
