Looks like Langer is powering to his 150....

(maybe not) for some reason langer was effexted byt the couple of wickets and came to a dead stop......great innings of 146 though...wish i had foxtel!!

Bring on Steve Waugh.......

how terrible must it be to dismiss Langer on 146 only to look up and see Gilchrist come out to the Centre...Scary....

cheers

Lets hope this keeps the Justin Langer critics at bay for a while longer ;) Fancy people questioning Langers spot in the team.

Was Lehmanns six runs a good six runs ?? I missed his innings so hopefully someone can tell me if he was in good nick. He really is over over over over over over due for a century. County cricket season perhaps ??

Ponting and Langer have excellent conversion rates when it comes to turning 50s into 100s.

Ponting has 15 centuries and 17 fifties.
Langer has 14 centuries and 16 fifties.
Langer has never been out in the 90s.

To give those stats some perspective.

Bradman - 29 hundreds/13 fifties

Crowe - 17/18. de Silva - 20/22. Ponting - 15/17. Langer - 14/16
Harvey - 21/24. Tendulkar - 31/35. Slater - 14/21
Gavaskar - 34/45. S Waugh - 29/46. Miandad - 23/43
Gooch - 20/46. M Waugh - 20/47. Border - 27/63.

Interesting to see Waugh opt for the two spinners to open the bowling in the Windies second innings. I can't recall that ever happening in an Aussie team. Can you ?

This is the first time in 18 years that Australia have gone into a Test with 5 specialist bowlers.

Nostrassasin is on target. The Windies will have to be dismissed for 165 for one part of his prediction but the other part (4 days) will require some rain downtime today.

Justin Langer critics ?! Just who might they be, JLC ?

Oh, do you mean Mrs Tarrant ? That passionate Slats fan. That so passionate Slats fan that she can only see Justin Langer when she thinks of why Slats was dropped. I can understand this.

Otherwise (Lol), she's a dedicated and knowledgeable follower of cricket and a dead set asset to this forum.

Unfortunately this morning's play has already been marred by two shockers from Asoka deSilva. One each way.

Lee had one turned down that looked like it couldn't miss middle, half way up then MacGill was awarded one against Hinds (7) that was farcical.

The Windies are 1/56 after 16 overs. Smith has 36 of his 38 n.o. from boundaries.

The West Indies have hit back. Looks like the aussies may have to cancel their Golf Day as this Test Match may go the distance. Great effort by the West Indies to hit back in the second innings

At stumps the Windies are 5/381 after 97 overs. Smith (62) set the standard early and Ganga ((113) and Lara (110) gave their team a chance of winning this Test with a p'ship of 185.

The Aussies still have the upper hand but Chanderpaul is looking dangerous, again. With a 129 lead, going into the third day, the Windies will be looking to bat at least until lunch.

Was good to see Lehmann get a Test wicket - and an important one at that - that of Ganga, 20 minutes before stumps. Had he survived, he would've started afresh with Chanderpaul.

Lara getting a century shows the importance of getting his wicket cheaply in the first innings. That LBW decision could prove very costly to the West Indies.

Australia should still win but small totals (<200) can be difficult to chase.

windies lead by about 130 runs with 5 wickets in hand if windies get a lead of 250 plus they will be in a good position as the pitch is deteriorating
which will make the bounce of the ball unpredictable
