dunno what tv shows you guys are watching and what papers you are reading but I see and hear nothing but respect and begrudging admiration for the Pies. They have to give each side a chance each week or what else would they have to write about.

I go into every game thinking there is some danger, just like i did today but I was pleased to say that my doubts were unfounded.

Fair point Damien. The best shows are the fair and balanced shows that has no bias involved.

People are more annoyed with the people in the show than the show itself. The likes of Andy Maher and Caro are obnoxious we have to just deal with it.

Wellingham - great tough game making opportunities in the seemingly smallest of spaces, lots of effective clearances today.
Wood, like the second half against the West Coast (I don't think he's given enough credit for a great second half game against Cox & Natanui), moved forward really well, spoiled really well & generally played well. Well done Woody.

If 20 contested possession out of 37 = an "outside" midfielder, what ratio of contested to uncontested would you expect from an inside mid?

Not really having a go at you, Scotch, just an expression, I'm sure. But that is the thing about Wellingham: sure, he's quick and he can get out on his own for the receive, but that isn't all he does - he is also very, very good at close quarters, and can get quality ball out of a big pack using, apparently, some sort of black bloody magic.

• Ball does it with guts and determination and incredible body strength.
• Swan does it with sheer one-grab speed - he's grasped the ball, taken three quick steps and disposed of it before you can blink.
• Didak does it with supreme ball-skill artistry
• Pendlebury does it with hypnotism - he mesmerises opponents and puts themn into a slow motion trance
• Wellingham does it with bloody magic - one minute he's a skinny kid on the wrong side of the contest, the next moment he's dived in, grabbed the pill, and is pelting out the other side heading goalwards.

Over time, I expect Wellingham to replace Luke Ball as our #1 inside midfielder. Not this year, but maybe when Ball is 32 and looking at retiring so as to have more time for polishing all those premiership medallions.

Didn't you see all the Melbourne supporters right at the top of the Great Southern Stand and the Members stand. They thought it was Mt Bulla.

They were destroyed with our press today and with a couple of our players on Annual Leave, our player list certainly runs deep enough to challenge other sides.

Just as easy as expected, Melbourne are not in out league and this side is very different to the one of 12 months ago, this time last year was when the run began, now they are the reigning premiers and have an amazing ability to turn it on

But it showed as alot of games against inferior opposition this year have, to be the best you have to back yourself and have the ability to put the score on the board, Melbourne went too defensive today and didnt have the players to kick goals up the other end, if Sylvia is their best forward then they are going to be down for a long time

As for Collingwood, thought today was Dawes best performance marking wise I have ever seen from him, was suprised he only managed the 1 goal but he was sensational with his contested marking and its been something that has been lacking in his game, its a great sign

Can't wait for Sydney, at this time of year the bye is no longer a curse and hey for about 9 years we have been heading to Sydney after a week off and won 8 of them...

I didn't mean it in a bad way. Just that he was our best finisher un-tagged going through the midfield. I sort of think of a finishing midfielder as an 'outside' whereas the clearance players as 'inside'. Although he is definitely good in tight too ('inside' is probably his best area anyway).
