I think you make a pretty good point Mike regarding who is pulling the media strings. Never having seen the show (maybe once, and it was boooorrrrriiinnnngggg), although I get some of the details from my brother and mates, it seems Tony is most likely told to 'be controversial' etc, and I'd figure most of you guys watch whatever the show is each week to see what idiotic thing Shaw will do. (=ratings = $$$ for his employers). He isnt the first ex footballer to be used in this way, and won't be the last, but he's a big boy and has to take the consequences of his actions, as foolish and short sighted as they appear to some of us.
Pity he hasn't done things with a little more dignity shall I say, and it cheapens the memory of the guy. On balance, the good outweighs the bad I s'pose, and when his media stooge work is done, he'd be as welcome as anyone at Vic Park.
Q. If you met the guy in the pub, would you buy him a beer?
Shaw

Shaw mentioned on "The Lame" that he would rather have seen Rocca stay in the team rather than be dropped. What he obviously forgot to mention was how long he would have left him on the ground b4 sitting him on the bench.Tony was the one responsible for introducing "the Roccary" into footy vocabulary a few years ago don't forget.I don't think he's qualified to be giving MM any advice.I really think it's time Eddie had a word with him and reminded him of his loyalties to the club. The club will always be there for him where as Channel 7 won't.He doesn't want to jeopardise that in any way.Criticising the club and the list and saying Freo has a better team is unacceptable when its clearly not true.Making jokes at the club's expense and not sticking up for us when the other dickheads heap shit on the club is unacceptable as a former ambassador of the club. And that stupis stunt on the Lame last year with Bucks was disgraceful. What credibility would his former players have for him after that display. He once said for the team to succeed they have to be that tight and look after and back each other up.He blew all that out the window that night. And the fact he could've picked any player but chose not only a Collingwood player but the captain to denigrate in such a way.Perhaps he is unaware of what he's doing. If thats the case he needs to be told the effect his comments and attitude are having not only on the club but on the millions of supporters who used to idolise him who are now dropping him so fast it makes him seem like a Carlton legend.I have rarely heard him compliment the club or make any positive comments about the club's current position. While they may currently not be world beaters, they're certainly alot healthier than when he was at the helm.Supporters confidence is returning, membership is climbing, the club is making a profit and the team is starting its long climb back up the ladder. We don't need negative comments influencing the supporters. We want to remain positive and put all the negative stuff behind us at long last.
I would really like to hear our esteemed president's opinion and the club's stance on this topic. So Eddie we await your reply.
