Rocca is dropped-Confirmed

Post by Scottie Davo »

Just heard it on the news.

After having a Round One shocker, he's ditched.

Is this fair? Ricky Ponting should have been so lucky yes?

What kind of message does this send out to the rest of the team? Can we afford to act so harshly with under performing players considering it was the first round and also considering the depth we have?

I say not.

I was the first to scream at his velvet hands to damn well list his game last week. He was hopeless.

But I could name others and also name other players in other teams that could also bow their head.

I would like to hear from MM why this course of action was taken?

Intersting huh.

P.S. Magpie Joffa, had a shit of a time trying to find you last weekend. Bloody hell, first effort you were on the ground, second effort you were getting a beer, next one at the toilet, then l,astly you looked up, nodded from afar and with the garbage bag on your head you were back to the game...(third quarter). oh well, it was a good trip down there anyway!

Head up Anthony, you can't say the writing wasn't on the wall.

Still, you'd feel it was as premature as my sex life though...

In my blood...and off my head.

Whew!!!

Just as well, because he didn't get a mention on the run-thru. This would have been his 100th. But how many of those 100 games have been good ones? Really?

I believe the guy is capable of winning a game off his own boot on a good day. But more often than not he lets us down. He's a chronic under-achiever who is really gunna have to start producing the goods consistently if he wants to remain a Pie.

It's simply no good having a star player who plays 2 or 3 sensational games a season and does nothing for the rest.

My personal opinion is that Rocca should play at full forward, with someone like Leon Davis (my two inclusions for this weeks match) at his feet. To me Rocca seems like a burst player. Why not play him at full forward where he can take a strong mark and not have to cover the miles roaming around cenre half forward. I know how difficult it is to play CHF as I play there myself and it is very easy to find yourself running in circles as you attempt to be a main target on the forward line. Tarrant and Molloy would be my dual CHF's. Both like a bit of space and are not afraid to roam around in order to provide a marking target.

It's just a suggestion, but I'd be interested in what people thought.

I agree with PaulF,

Ideal line up with the spine should be as follows
FB = Presti
CHB = Richo
Ruck = McKee
CHF = Rogan
FF = Pebbles

....simple as that !

You don't have to be Einstein to work out that Pebbles should be at FF. He simply is a burst player who can lead and marks that are not taken can be scavenged by the likes of Dutchie and Neon. Oh and Molly too !

As Shite Mike would say - what do you think ?

Collingwood Forever !
