^+1
I remember a lot of confidence oozing around here before the first Dees game earlier last year.
I think we'll win reasonably comfortably but am a tad nervous. But I always get that way against the teams we should easily beat.

^We are a different team now. We expect to win these games, and we should. Confidence isn't the issue. We just have to be on our game, and we win.

It will be a massacre. This season there is a much bigger gap between the superpowers (i.e. us and the Cats) and those fighting for top 8 scraps than there has been in a long time. The Hawthorn game showed Collingwood have started to gear up for September, so you know they will take this seriously. The Pies simply have too much size, class, talent, speed and firepower, and will win this in a laugher. The real challenge comes next week.
I, for one, welcome our new black and white overlords

Changes have been announced.

In: McCarthy, Keefe, Young, Seedsman
Out: Dawes

Strange selection, no Johnson and no MaCaffer, just plain weird.

McCarthy tried and shown nothing special (so why pick him?).

Young and Keefe - yes good news!

Seedsman - will probably be an emergency, but it's a good sign of the future.

Johnson must be finished if they haven't put him back in the side, and maybe, just maybe there's more to the Caff story than injury.

Surely now more than anytime this season we need the experience of BJ and the Caff? :?

Also, does picking Keefe indicate that Taz might go forward? Or will Leroy play at FF and Keefe back Jolly up in the ruck (that's what I would prefer).

Very surprised to see Seedsman listed.

Not surprised that Macaffer's missing. He's been out a long time. Was pretty fringey when in, and has only played one pretty average VFL game.

A little surprised to see no Johnson. Two full games in the VFL, where he got quite a bit of ball. Still, has been out a while, and when he last returned was injured immediately. A cautious approach makes sense.

McCarthy's a good option for a medium forward, and Keefe as a possible tall forward or tall defender (allowing Tarrant to go forward). Young keeps being listed, so he must be a chance to play at some point.

I had McCarthy and Johnson in for Dawes and Fasolo.
Now think it may be McCarthy and Keefe. Or maybe just one of those two with Fasolo holding his spot.
Well done boys!

Agree with all that Jack.

Perhaps with Johnno (coming back from hammy) and McCaffer (a long time out) they've chosen to see how they go with a third hit-out in the twos.

Malthouse has indicated that he wants to get some newbies on the park before the end of the year.

Seedsman will be an emergency, but he's not too far away.

Young and Keefe are good choices and I'd love to see Leroy play the 'bash and crash role' at full forward with Keefe and Jolly sharing ruck duties.

McCarthy has been tried before- he might be one of these guys who needs about 40 games to make his mark- one hopes so.

The selections show faith in the young players on the list, whilst putting some older players on notice.

I dont think Johnno is finished- just more is required before he breaks back in.

One more game and he'll be back to shred Carlton with his scything left foot kicks out of half-back!!

Go Pies- smash the Pauperoos...

I forgot it was Thursday and time for team selection.

Very surprised to see Seedsman even named in the squad.

Well done to the kid and on his performance last week in the VFL but couldn't imagine he'd be any chance to come in on the back of only one standout performance.

Even more surprised that Johnson hasn't been recalled.

I guess Mick has been happy with Buckley and is content to take the cautious approach with Johnson.

I hope he takes the same stand with Didak and he resumes via the VFL.

Macaffer still needs at least 1 more week in the VFL before being seriously considered.

Wouldn't mind seeing him play against the scum though.

The McCarthy recall should come as no surprise.

Hopefully Rounds is given the opportunity to play a full game this week and that Keeffe makes his debut.

Finally I wouldn't mind seeing Sidebottom listed as the sub this week.

Might send him the message that we expect more from him.
He's mad. He's bad. He's MaynHARD!

Tarrant being named forward....
Does this make it more, or less likely that he'll actually play there?

I would be surprised if Tarrant lines up at CHF. Keefe to play and be Sub are my thoughts.

I don't have a problem with BJ and Caff missing, I think it will give another week to gain fitness and build the depth we require for the finals.
