:) Shawry summing up the game mentioned "our team" and was pounced on by Wallsy.

"Our team ? Our team ? What's this ? You're supposed to be neutral as a commentator"

Shawry: "Well, you're Carlton"
Donny.

It's a game. Enjoy it. :D

Carlton beat Essendon by 74 points one week, Collingwood beat them by 74 the next.

86 point 2nd half margin. Fantastic!

Alex Fasolo is in our best 22.

Ben Sinclair looked alright.

Great win. It is difficult to be "up" all season in the AFL. I reckon we have had downs in games, yet still manage to come through with the goods.

This team is doing something not many teams have done in the past. Not only do they win when down, but somehow manage to win big, by huge margains.

Don't mistake me, this is an unbelievable team. To have the capacity to continue to do this over the season is unheard of. The percentage of 175+ is not built on by one or two big thumpings, but more of a consistent effort to win by 10 goals or so, week in, week out. I'm enjoying being a pies supporter at the moment. I am loving it and embracing it, because this team is special.
I don't know the key to success, but the key to failure is trying to please everybody.

Essendon where down players from the start of the game.

Collingwoods forward line pressure was non-existant against the sun's the week before too.

Mick knows its not all roses even though the margin was quite large
And so it begins.

Seriously, all today proved to me was that when we know we have/need to play football, we get our heads in the game and play good football. There will be a decent amount of moaning about the first half, but it'll all be for nothing. We waltzed into this game with the wrong attitude, that by itself is unacceptable but it isn't altogether unexpected nor is it indicative of where we are at currently.

We have our eyes firmly set on finals. We'll do what we need to in the coming weeks to ensure we don't lose top spot, but I wouldn't be surprised if we threw up a few more lacking quarters in the coming weeks. A lot of people seem to think we need to be firing on all cylinders 5 weeks out from the start of finals, but it just isn't realistic nor is it sensible.

We will be absolutely primed for finals, mentality and physically. A first half like that today just says to me the players are chomping at the bit for the real stuff to start. All we are doing at the moment playing out the time.

Good opportunity to get another game into some kids though. Fasolo especially is one who is going to be savouring these coming 5 weeks because it just might be enough to get him into finals playing side, and who knows after that.

Starting to think I underrated Dawes influence on Cloke somewhat as well. I think he'll appreciate having his partner in crime back.
Gotta make sure Cloke stays on top of his game now too. It must be a bit weird for him going into matches being told he is expected to embarrass his opponent. People were saying anything under 5 goals today on a mug like Ryder was a failure and unacceptable. It's a big change for him, I hope he is managing to keep his mind focused and clear of any worry about such things because the weight of expectation can be pretty crippling for some.

Thank god for Luke Ball as well, I dunno where we'd be without him. Still searching for premiership #15 I suspect and a fair bit further away from it than we are this year from #16. What a champion.

Essendon were pretty good in the first quarter and a half but needed everything to go right for them, given their players were falling like nine pins, but like most games you had a sense of inevitability about the Pies winning. It's almost as unless we start like a house on fire, we need something to chase before we turn it on. But when we did we were simply irresistable. I know we won by 12-13 goals but geez we wasted so many inside 50s but I'm not going to sqabble.
Besides the obvious best players I thought Krak played his best game for us in quite a while.

I'd just like to report that the Port Douglas chapter of the Collingwood army did it's thing today, loud and proud. :D

I spent the arvo in the central hotel, next to an Essendon Supporter, with a bunch of wags behind me who would have done the standing room army at the G proud. The Essendon supporter was from congupna and knows Rusty and his family and hence had a few stories to tell, but he was a lot quieter in the second half than the first.

Very enjoyable game, never in doubt.

I just hope I can encourage my legs to carry me back to the pub later for diner.

We were pathetic, what a terrible first half, we won't beat Geelong's AusKick team.

The first quarter and a bit were horrendous, all across the ground, but notably up forward where we had no structure and the backline that leaked goals too easily (albeit arsey goals from 50+ metres).

Essendon were undermanned, pre game and during the game - the former helping them as thy found a gem in Ryder as a defender on Cloke. Cloke probably would have done better on their regular backmen.

Leon Davis is one of our most important players and will be critical for us to go back to back this year (who would have thought we'd be saying THAT). He oozes class and gets us out of so many difficult situations.

Can't wait to see Didak and Fasolo in the same team. Who goes out? - I don't know.

Good to have Beamer back in the side.

Pendles is the classiest player in the AFL. We all knew this anyway, but I just wanted to say it. :D

Swan collected so many possessions, but his kicking is dodgy. He seems to be struggling kicking with power across his body. Is this a symptom of a groin problem, OP? But it is concerning that he fails to kick 40 metres.[/b]
