^^^ Couldnt agree more. Pendles is one of those players that seem to have the time to weigh up all the options, then hit his target with a perfect pass by hand of foot. And yes, he's our best finisher, on the run or set shot.
If he played as a permanent forward, he'd easily kick 40-50 goals, and create many more. Unfortunately, he's needed all over the ground!
Would love to see the look of horror on the faces of the Scum loving media if he wins the Brownlow, which he may very well do.

I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within.

Yes we must remember that Murphy has had an outstanding year also and would be stealing votes from Judd!
I give Pendles and G.Ablett a very big chance of an upset!
Never disperse your focus unless absolutely necessary. Face one adversary at a time!

Pendlebury is a Del Santo type, with the added ability to win the inside ball (not Del's forte to say the least).
Something I agree with Mr Spain on, is how much of Pendlebury's Basketball background seems to show in his game. Early on I used to notice the "steals" he'd make - intercepting the ball with one hand, but there is also his ability to hold and use the ball in traffic as if he was 10 metres in the clear; his ability to assess situations and continually deliver a ball with precision and finish off shots on goal.
Probably too much post-hoc attribution going on here, but he definitely plays the game like a classic Basketball point guard.

I agree. There have been plenty of AFL players who played basketball for a while, but Pendles is the only one I've seen who makes me think "he plays like a great basketballer would play". I honestly reckon that if Pendles hadn't chosen footy he'd be the Boomers point guard.AN_Inkling wrote:Pendlebury is a Del Santo type, with the added ability to win the inside ball (not Del's forte to say the least).

Awesome win, lets be realistic here, you cannot just go out and play 4 bruising qtrs of footy every single week and still win a flag
When you come up against ok teams but are alot lower on the ladder its often better to sit back, take what they have to give and then blow them away. If Essendon or any team was capable of putting in a performance like their first qtr over an entire match they would be top 2-3 in the league not outside the 8. Most teams can do what Essendon did, but only the best can sustain it and if you expect a 4 qtr demolition like Geelong gave Melbourne yesterday every week then this has obviously been a very dissapointing year for you
They obviously felt they had something to prove yesterday, we dont have anything to prove during the Home and Away season

OMG. This is truly a historic night. I agree 100% with AN_Inkling as well.AN_Inkling wrote:I agree. And it's all about effectiveness. He wins the contested ball as well as anyone, but unlike a Judd or maybe a Ball, he doesn't hack the ball forward hoping a teammate can get on the end of it, or make a dinky two metre handball - he puts on a move or two, creates space, looks like he's not even trying and hits the best option with a nicely weighted handball or pinpoint pass. Sure, it doesn't look as impressive as Judd getting rid of the ball with players hanging off him, but it's far more effective.Doc63 wrote: Pendlebury though, is now the best player in the leauge. I'd pick him over any player in the competition.
Swan is more like Judd in that way and uses his muscle to break through tackles, and is often under pressure or having just broken away from pressure when delivering a pass - hence their disposal efficiency is never going to be as good as Scott's (along with the fact that Pendles is just a better kick than both).
The other aspect of his game that is a joy to behold is his finishing - he may even be better than Sidebottom (whaddya reckon Mike? ). The way he calmly puts through tough, angled and snapped shots at goal is simply amazing; has rarely missed this year. Again, Judd and Swan are simply not even close to being in Pendlebury's league in this area.
The coolest, calmest, silkiest and yes, I think, even best player in the comp.
He should get a please explain at least. Our away game seats are down there and there r so many little kids down there. How would the prick have felt if he'd have copped some poor 3 year old in the face?Donny wrote:Reimers the dog ??
