Joffa,
Whilst I have a lot of respect for what you are doing with the cheersquad and knowing how hard it is from first hand experience, I personally dont like the idea of using "You'll never walk alone" as an anthem as the Adelaide Crows Cheer Squad began using that in 1991 under the policy that they vowed to never let the crows travel without at least one member present.
Now whether or not they still use it I dont know, but as you have said in a couple of your post's here, we need to lead the pack, be innovative and set the standards that all others strive for but can never acheive because they are not Collingwood.
Lets see if, with everyones help, we can find another song/anthem that we can use that will be just as (if not more) effective and origional.
Will let you know if I think of anything but music and songs are not my strongpoint.
Hope to be in the chat after 9 to introduce myself and have a chat as I think I can offer you some assitance in what you are doing.
Cheers
Dillo

Hi Dillo
Thanx for your suggestions mate and please keep them comming the cheer squad is thrilled to be getting the feedback its getting from kerri and myself and SSII,cobood and jbj and my good mate Alf and all the other cheer squad members and committee people we say a very big thank you.
I guess we started with 'youll never walk alone'cause we just wanted to send a message to the club and that is, no matter how far behind on the scoreboard you are or how far down the ladder you are WE will allways will be there no matter what.
Walk on with hope in your heart and youll never walk alone...pretty powerful stuff.
Eventually we'll move on to another anthem but 'youll never walk alone'kind of explains the love affair we all have with this great club and i would like to think we'll keep it for ever.
And i also believe its the time the supporters of all clubs moved on to a greater emotional level of supporting, the days of 'clap' clap' clap' is boring and innefective its goin to take time but then again i dont think it will, as the things we have done so far has been greatly recieved by all our cheer squad members. And we are going to get shitcanned from time to time by others who lets say are the reserved and shy because what we are trying to do 'they cant' its as simple as that.
Have a listen to an english premier league soccer game and listen to the singing and the passion it really gives you tingles down your spine, its simply great stuff!!
And excuse me for getting emotional for one minute but SHIT we are collingwood supporters we have been given the greatest honor in life and that is to support the collingwood football club, well i say lets do it with the greatest of gutso and passion ever seen.
And family we need suggestions we are not a closed shop the cheer squad is also your cheer squad and we need ideas so allways feel free to pop by and have your say.
Of course not everything will be accepted so dont feel offended if we dont run with your idea, we have a commitee and it has to be run via the committe first.
But let me say again we are thrilled to know that your with us and supporting us it is greatly appreciated.
The collingwood official cheersquad!!!
There is nothing in life greater, than to be a supporter of our beloved collingwood football club,we must remain united,we must stand tall,we must be prepared to fight for our glorious black and white for we are the ENVY OF ALL NATIONS.'YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE'

I'm not sure if Dillo's comments about the Adelaide Cheer Squad were tongue-in-cheek or serious ... but, in any case, Adelaide has no claim on the song.
"You'll Never Walk Alone" will always be Liverpool's song because it is thoroughly entrenched in the culture of that city. The song was written by Rogers and Hammerstein for a musical called "Carousel" in the '50s (I think) and was first used on the Kop in the early 1960s when it was a huge hit song for Gerry and the Pacemakers, a Liverpool band that became famous at the same time as the Beatles. Liverpool was very much the musical capital of the world at the time, and it was Liverpool supporters who really started that English-style of singing on the terraces.
I suppose, being a Liverpool fan, I'm a bit biased towards the song. A lot of people will say, "It's Liverpool's song. What has it got to do with Collingwood?"
But the song has been widely used by supporters of lots of English clubs. Sometimes the words get changed a bit. It's just one of those songs that sounds magnificent when sung by a large group of people.
I first heard it used in Australia by the Sturt Cheer Squad in the S.A.N.F.L. in the late 1970s and I believe it is also on the repertoire of the Official Richmond Cheer Squad, and I daresay several other cheer squads as well. But it has never been used to its full potential in this country. It's one thing to get a cheer squad of a hundred or two hundred people singing it. But it's another thing entirely to have the entire Southern Stand singing it. Could you imagine that!!!!
Of course it may never happen. A lot of people reject it because of its association with Liverpool. A lot of other people just think singing at the footy is not the Australian way.
I just love the song, so I'm all in favour of perservering with it and hoping it catches on.
I must say, I was a bit surprised when Joffa, a Newcastle fan, first suggested doing the song. And my first thought was, "Nah. It'll never catch on."
But as Joffa says, "Let's not die wondering."
