Why are we always out-numbered?

Post by NICK THE PIE MAN »

Hey guys,
i always hear on this board that Collingwood supporters are out-numbered by rival team's supporters at games.
Eg. The Bulldogs game.
Is this the case recently?
How many fans do we have on average at home games? (Rough estimate)
Thanks...

Hi nick
I dont believe we are out numbered at all i just reckon that maybe due to the lack of success this club has had over recent years has probably dulled peoples enthusiasm just a little, look at our supporters who are 15 or 16 they have known nothing but a losing collingwood side therefor they havnt been exposed to the old bastadry and arrogance which us collingwood people hold so dear.
I know at times im guilty of sulking during a game when things dont go our way,
Sometimes during hard times its hard to be a supporter, cause we to have to come up week after week.
Dont worry the magpie army is still there and its ready to march.

There is nothing in life greater, than to be a supporter of our beloved collingwood football club,we must remain united,we must stand tall,we must be prepared to fight for our glorious black and white for we are the ENVY OF ALL NATIONS.'YOU'LL NEVER WALK ALONE'

From where I was sitting it appeared that we were outnumbered about 3 to 1 the other night. Obviously we're not one of the "fashionable" clubs at the moment. If we can string a few wins together, I'm sure all the band-wagon types will be out in force. In Round 3 last last year we outnumbered Carlton. By the end of the season we were being outnumbered by the Kangaroos supporters (again about 3 to 1). As they say in the classics, you do the maths.

I believe we were outnumbered on saturday night because it was a Bulldogs home game. The lack of recent sucess wouldn't help either

I think if it was played at the MCG and it was a home game you would find that its not the case that we would be out numbered. First game was a Hawks homegame, second we played Freo at Colonial (outnumbered them) and then we played the Bulldogs which was thir home game and at Colonial which many fans aren't prepared to travel to.

I reckon we could have had a few more on SAt night, comparing the crowd at 1/2 time to that when (at the final siren) most dogs had gone. Also on my side of the ground (AFL members area), it looked to be 10 to 1, balancing the greater dog numbers on the other sidewhere .
Compare the relative member numbers, we should sh.t it in at most games.
Give us a few more wins , and a strong showing in any losses and youll see us back at the top in the supporter stakes.
Cause when in front , and the large maggie crowd gets involved there is NOTHING better.
