Ryan Lonie

Looks like we have a gem here. Can anyone tell me what pick we got him at? Was it our first pick? The one that West Coast wanted for that crock Gehrig? Anyhow the recruiters have picked very well here. How good is his disposal? He consistantly hits his target.
I'm sure his name will become legend over the next 10-15 years.

I think that he was pick 37 or 38. My brother in law's son played footy with the two Lonie twins at Frankston and said that they were guns with one playing at Centre Half Forward and the other playing at Centre Half Back (I'm not sure which was which). Apparently he's a pretty quiet kid and looks like he lets his footy do the talking.

Hey s man,I reckon Ryan would've played half back with Frankston as i remember on Draft day they mentioned he was a half back player and his brother Nathan played up forward.

Glad to see someone mention him specifically.

For a young bloke he has an incredibly cool head, and now has a few great scalps. His skills are silky, and that goal has to be a contender for the goal of the year.

This man is the flair our backline has missed for a number of years.

As an ex half back flanker this kid is what this position is all about. Straight through the lines running half back who is willing to back himself and present a further option through the midfield. When i saw his goal I said this kid will be a star. Talking to a work colleague who coaches at the club where these twins played as juniors, people used to flock to the games to watch them to see how good they were. they were always destined for AFL luckily we snared one of them.

Easily going to be a Norwich(?) rising star contender.

wow watching him brings back great memories and instills in me that the Half back flank position is easily the best position on the ground to play. This kid oozes gritty determination and guts and when he puts that ball under his arm watch him go.

I think the recruiting team have done exceptionally well this year. I can't think of a bad pick up.

Now this kid has star written all over him , i love watching kids with confidence and we have quite a few but he also shows so much maturity and his disposal is so clean not like so many of the other duds we recruited previously egImage godden , wild, olarenshaw, patterson the list goes on )

Yep, this guy is gunna absolutely kick arse!!!
His disposal of the ball is just brilliant, and it seems he has a HUGE kick on him too, just going by the goal he kicked from inside the square!!

Well not long after we picked him up,MM described him in similar terms to Guy McKenna and expected him to play a similar role to him.The general of the backline I think his words were.
