Oh yeah, losing a game you dont intend to win will kill off any confidence in the team, of course it will do alot more damage to them than if they threw everything at Geelong and still lost...
They played it safe, hell even Geelong realised that, I doubt you would ever see a less happy team song than that Geelong one given they apparently beat the top side by 96 points and that was the best the top side could play...

A nothing game, that means nothing... unless you're embarrassed the way we were tonight. A terrible effort. Pendlebury, Swan and Reid were okay, the rest were awful.
Geelong should now be premiership favourites, having beaten Collingwood and Hawthorn twice each. The press and betting agencies got on our bandwagon too late last year, but after this game Geelong should be clear favourites.
Not saying we're done. In fact, I'm still confident we'll win it, strange things can happen in dad rubbers. But, you can't ignore the result, and the Cats must now be considered favourites for the flag.
I won't be reading too much into tonight's game, but a couple of things were clear: Wood and Jolly can not play in the same team, and Leigh Brown can not play down back. We were too slow tonight and having two talls playing out of position did not help. That said, Wood's form has been better than Jolly's, but only one of them plays.
The other thing that was clear is that we missed Maxwell and Shaw. Goldsack's defensive work in marking contests was poor all night (their mediums cut us apart), and Brown was too slow and gave us nothing offensively. Add Leon, Maxwell and Shaw to that defense, and we'll be much better served next week.
Biggest concern out of the game is injuries: Tarrant needs to be available; a very important player.

Not too worried about tonights loss other than the injury to Taz
Imho we went out there without a killer attitude ... why, because a win was irrelevant ... we didnt tackle, we kicked to the corridor, we fumbled ball
What convinced me was an incident in the 3rd ... Reidy takes a mark in defence, sees Sinclair free out wide and is about to kick to him when he changes direction and kicks to a congestion on the 50m ... thats not Reid, thst's not Collingwood.
In any case, it could be considered a kick up the backside and take out the complacency factor coming into week 1 of the finals.
GO PIES !!
