Watching the the woods play footy at the "G" on a Friday night = $30.00
3 x VB's and a Pie n sauce = $25.00
Watching the media wipe us and some supporters panic = Priceless
The ball was clearly out

hell

Post by Hiss »

Geelong is hell for a pies fan this morning. I am going to get in a boat and row up Corio Bay seeking asylum status. Get me out of here. My house was attacked last night I inadvertently left the Magpies Flag flying outside. I just want our team to see what they have done to me and my feral family by playing so disgracefully last night.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

Hiss, put the replay of the 08 Grand Final on and put your TV in the front window for all to see. That'll learn 'em.

Just be prepared for an almighty roasting wherever we go this week from Collingwood haters. We thought we'd win respect this year. We can salvage some honour with a flag, but this week we've earned nothing but derision.
This is the real reason why these guys are upset, not because we lost but because of the crap they will cop from other supporters. Who cares what other supporters say. I don't and I don't care about last nights game. We will win the flag, I know we will. I new at the start of last season, I had a feeling and I had the same feeling this year.

The game shows just how much the game is played above the shoulders.

We need to be mentally prepared for finals or it will be a wasted year. We learned nothing from this match, and I suppose it's better for the psyche than trying to win and still losing.

MM seemed unconcerned, a good thing and I think Scott took little out of this game.

Injuries remain the only real issue from this game.

I agree Cam. Its been a long season. I am feeling jaded just waiting for finals and didn't really care about last night - like the players obviously.

Geelong lost last week to a switched on Sydney, had a bye before that and were pushed by Adelaide (11 points). They came with the idea of finals preparation and played very very well.

We will play much better next week

This is to hiss and the other knockers.
BIG BLOODY DEAL the guys got beaten. Its not tghe end of the world.
The next 4 weeks are what coubnts.
So the boys got beat. Its not the end of the world.
Its just the finasl game.
If I remember correctly last year we lost the last game iof the year and by a big margin as well.
Gee all you 'sour grapes' go out and get a life.
The boys have been ontop of the ladder for 99% of the season, they are still backed to wuin the flag and I feel that they will play either the Dorks or the Pussycats.
The body language at the beginning was enough to tell that they werent worried about the game.....
Just forget all about last nights game and concentrate on the guys taking it out on West Coast next weekend.
The pussy cats play the Dorks and hey just think that the pussy cats may have to go thru the hard way or maybe the easy way,BUT the guys should win hands down against WCE

I thought it appeared a lot of players didn't go in as hard as they usually do. They're were clear signs that a lot of players didn't want to risk injury last night.

Which should be seen as a good thing.

First thing I did when I saw where the game was going was watch Luke Ball, as I believe he's the barometer for Collingwood's pressure during a game.

My first and lasting impression was that he was trying but certainly not giving his all. It seemed very obvious he was flat.

Whether there was a team rule to hold back no one but the players and coach can say (and I don't believe that would be the case as no one wants to head into a finals campaign on the back of a loss like that), but what was evident was that just about every player was flat, almost disinterested.

As I said to my wife while I was watching the game, the boys are playing like Gold Coast. There's no structure, no pressure and their being lazy with their disposal of the ball.

I guess as a collective we'll find out next week against West Coast if this was an aberration because the West Coast players will come to play and if the Pies players aren't at their best we'll lose.

Not generally the descriptor I tend to use for you but whatevs...

Hard to tell exactly what they were up to tonight. Yeah Mick was pretty chilled at 3/4 time but there was also footage of him losing his stack in the coaches box, including what looked a lot like him giving Bucks a spray at one stage. Now some of all that might have been habit but I reckon Mick would have been pretty non-plussed with what he was seeing.

It wasn't just that we were slow and uncommitted. Geelong played some pretty bloody good footy there tonight and showed that there's still a lot of life in them yet (regardless of Jack's affirmations some 2 years ago). Mind you, when they get Hawkins taking screamers in the square, you have to start thinking that they were having one hell of a good night. The bounce of the ball went their way a hell of a lot (and not just the centre bounces) and we were just running around with our mates - and not very quickly at that. We usually have 2 or 3 players manning the centre square for the rebound. Tonight, they waltzed through there on numerous occasions. Some of that was some exceptional play-on footy but most of it was us just not working to get into position.

Our last bye was 10 weeks ago. Not sure about WCE but Carlton, Geelong and Hawthorn, effectively, have had a good chance to rest up for week one. I'm cool with us getting out there and keeping the legs moving without busting a nut.
jack_spain wrote: Absolute umitigated rubbish. You ****wits just can't handle the truth that we might not actually be the best team going around this year!
Which is a kind of ironic statement when you check out the context within which it was delivered. I mean seriously dude (and I use that term with every last skerrick of my poetic license) but get a grip. You're embarrassing us to the interwebs.

jack_spain wrote: No wonder so many people have been driven away from Nick's when ****wit bullies come on and tell us what we should think and say about Collingwood every time.
LOL. Just so much LOL. I'll even dust off a ROFL. A post every 75 minutes 24 hours a day presumably isn't ramming opinions down our throats.

You weren't the happiest person in Melbourne when we won last year. It was my birthday and I was off my chops.

Regardless, if or when we win it this year, I expect there to be a glib retraction on your behalf followed by arrogance and grandstanding at other teams' misfortunes, not realising that you are again setting yourself up for how you're feeling now. Then we can go through this whole thing again. Believe me, it's as cathartic for me as it clearly is for you :P
