Hi there all. Following our get together last weekend at the Roebuck it was decided that it would be a good idea to hold our next event at a London based BARFL game. Some suggested the Wandsworth Demons so Anne has contact Ian from their club and asked if this is ok. We wanted to avoid the bank holiday weekend, so this left us with either the weekend of the 30/31st May or the 17th/18th May. As the club are having possibly an away game on the 30/31st,(they maybe changing this to home, but cant guarantee this) we would need to look at the 18th (a Sunday). They will be playing West London, 2 games starting from 12.30 onwards at their Clapham Common ground.
They have no bbq facilities for small games but they are going to look if we can bring our own. If not, we could organise ppl to bring their own picnic hamper, blankets and fold chairs etc. Beer and drinks are available to buy at the ground. No entry fee.
So can you let me know if this is a suitable date, Sunday 18th May, as we do not have much time to publicise. Anne will be away from Wednesday on business, so can you pls advice ASAP.
Mark, once you have the green light, Anne will send you the text for the event via me. I will also get an email out to all the ppl who have expressed interest.
Details of how to get to the ground.
There are several ways to get there.
By Tube
Take the Northern Line down to Clapham Common. Take the right hand exit, walk towards the common (pommie for park) and then across the common toward the bandstand. Before the bandstand are the changerooms which are used on match days. Just before the changerooms is the area we use for matches and training.
By Bus
Loads of buses go past Clapham Common tube station, and any bus going there is a good option. All of these will travel alongside the common at some stage as well, so you can definitely find a slightly closer stop than the tube station itself.
By Train
If you are travel on the overland trains, head for Clapham Junction. From the station, exit through the shopping centre onto the main road, turn left, head down to the corner and cross over to the right to the stop outside Arding and Hobbes, a large department store. Catch the 35 or 37 from there. A 345 will also do the trick, but doesn't stop at this stop.
You can also walk from the junction, follow the bus route. It is about a kilometre
If you have any questions, get back to me.
