I've made my view on this clear in another thread, I reckon registering of cyclists is a top idea. Charge a notional fee for a licence plate and some TAC insurance, they can hang the plate on the back from the seat if it's so difficult to hang it on the front.

Interesting bit of symmetry. I was on the way to work this morning, not far from home, and was listening to the people calling in on MMM Hot Breakfast about the Warnie thing, giving their opinion.

While listening, I pulled up at a set of lights. (Watsonia Rd, merging into Gborough hwy heading Sth for those who know the area.)

I pulled up in the left lane of the 2 turning right at the red light. A few seconds later a cyclist pulled up on my left, stopping just in front of me (but not in my road). 2 seconds later a black Statesman pulled up on my right and idled forward so that the passenger window was level with the front of my car. The passenger window would down and the driver released a torrent of abuse at the cyclist. "Get off the effing road", and "Why are you riding an effing bike anyway you effing fa-ggot" is just a part of what i heard. The bloke sounded like an extra from Fat Pizza.

The cyclist just stood there, with a bemused expression on his face and didn't respond in anyway. I have no idea what caused this little altercation but I wouldn't have been picking on the cyclist personally. He was about 6'5", late 20's to early 30's, around 95 to 100 kg and looked seriously fit. Considering he was wearing jogging shorts and a standard singlet top, I'd say he was just cycling to work, possibly at Watsonia Barracks.

Soon as the light turned green I took off and left them, but saw the Statesman a few K's later. He must have taken a different route to end up in the same place as me, I was stuck behind a bus going round a roundabout, he was stuck behind the car who was beside the bus being very careful incase the bus came into their lane, and he was hitting the horn and abusing the driver in front of him. Basically a 24 carat, solid gold, prize winning, phucktard.

I've been infuriated by cyclists before but have never and have no intention to, carry on like that but it was insight into what some cyclists have to cop.

1.The cyclist rejects & denies the assertion put by Warnie that he at any time latched onto Warnies car, hit Warnies car & did anything that Warnie accused him of.

2. The cyclist was unable to ride away given he was hit by Warnie (Warnie did say he clipped him - implying deliberately), the cyclist says he had to lock his damaged bicycle (unable to be ridden due to Warnie causing damage to his bike) walk home 4 Km's & return with his car & put his bike on the car.

3. Warnie after clipping him & damging did not stop to swap names & addresses etc did not check to assist a cyclist he had hit.

4. At the same time the cyclist had gone to the police to make a statement.

Warnies strategy was to twitter first as a means of putting his (dare I say) spin on an incident where he (as he admitted deliberately) clipped a bicyclist. Warnie does not have witnesses. The bicyclist reports that he does.

To the car drivers who think its fun to endanger bicyclists like Warnie's beahviour has demonstrated - I blow my nose in your general direction!

What Warnie has done is to inflame & polarize. What else should one expect from cashed up Bogans. Seriously.
Until there is proof, and neither side has provided independent proof, then you cannot say that about Warnie.

With all due respect Black _White,

I have it on good authority that Warnie is infact a cashed up bogan - this of course is a matter of fact, not opinion & proven with double blind controlled studies !!

A second cyclist (independent of the first cyclist) came forward on the first day this all went to air and stated he believed Warne intentionally clipped the cyclist in questions wheel. He didn't see the lead up shenanigans before Warne's car clipping the cyclists wheel but he was certain it wasn't accidental.

I do believe road cyclist should be required to pass an exam similar to a motorist and registered to ride on the road. Given the nature of road riding it can't do any harm to have all cyclist using the roads up to speed with current road laws and what's required of them when on the road.

Similarly I believe current driving lessons and teachings should include, or a greater influence be given to, how to co-exist with road cyclists.

Harmony is what's required and is what's sadly lacking on modern roads. To much aggression on the road from all parties at the moment for any progression to be made on this subject.

Been over 24 hours since this hit the news, and I'm yet to see any of the claimed "phone video, phone pictures" that the cyclist claimed were being taken that would prove his point.
This is hugely unusual as we all know how people want to get their pictures out there asap, to be the first with the hot news.

His new partner never made me think more of Warnie, made me think less of Lizzie!

So "last century" thinking there nick.

Everyone wants to pump up their own tyres by being the first online with "the news"
Have a look at this site as a prime example.
If the vid/photo's exist we would have seen them by now.
If the police have them, Warne would have been charged.

At the moment, we have the words of a man who we all know, and the words of a person who will not give their name and in fact may or may not even have been involved in the incident. Not hard to bend a wheel, take a photo, then send it to an online bicycle forum
More FACTS required.
