I have fallen off my own bike at a spot close to where Barassi fell. Not surprised that he's in hospital

I try and ride 2-3 times a week but would be happy to join others. Anyone organised anything yet?

It appears they'll get their day in court.

No, he claims PROOF!
Vids and photo's.
His power in the law is no more or less than Warne's.
Maybe he just went home, decided Warne has a few bucks, bent his wheel himself and the rest is history.
If Warne has done wrong, I'm more than happy for him to pay the penalty. But those who cry wolf need to back it up.
And in breaking news, the cyclist in question is taking legal procedings via his lawyer - said he din't have enough time to post on Nicks as he was getting his legal advice prepared

Taking him to civil court, where the requirements of proof are lower than the criminal court.
And 1700 bucks to fix a wheel?
Cash grab, pure and simple.

Do you have Cleopatra syndrome? She was Queen of de nile!!

So you know his bike & wheels? :o

Mine cost nealry $1000 hand built but traded in the wheels that came with the bike to reduce the costs. Expensive machinery these days.

The point being he did show up & put is money where his mouth is & has a witness for the prosecution :!:

having read the article, I don't think it's a cash grab I think it's a publicity grab. Great opportunity for captain Martyr there to make a statement on behalf of all persecuted cyclists.

Eddie has just , on the Hot Breakfast , offered to pay the $1500 damages that the cyclist is seeking.

Sh*t, Warney ran into me deliberately & bent my wheel too. Please ED $1500 or a Legends membership & I'm happy to settle out of court :D

Why? Is Shane doing it tough nowadays? Maybe he needs to get on a plan instead of pre-paid.

No way will this get to court.
Only got to look at the hippy bike rider to know he is looking for an out of court settlement.
Stay out of it Ed, I want to see his "proof".

Ed's logic was all it's going to do is stir up more bad feeling between motorists and cyclists, which isn't needed. He said if the bloke wanted $1500 for his wheel, he'd pay it.

Unfortunately, by making the offer and the bloke seeming to decline it over wanting to go to court, it's only going to cast more doubts on his motives.

Bloke seems like a professional victim who wants to prove a point.

Bingo!

And why not stir up a bit more angst between motorists and cyclists?
Only way the government will act and bring cyclists to account for their actions.
