Firstly let me say that I consider myself most fortunate to go along for the night.
I was good putting a face to both Nick- Pie Man and Proud Pies. It was a pleasure meeting both of them and NPM proved to be excellent company for the night.
Peter Yagmoor was on our table along with his father and his grandmother. It was interesting to find that his father grew up in south east Melbourne and eventually more to Cairns. His father seem very please that Peter had been recruited by the Pies due to the level of support he had received. Peter was friendly and more than willing to talk to us when the opportunity arose. If anything his was a little blown away by the occasion. I think it opens his eyes as to how Collingwood do things.
Also on the table was some sponsors who were part of the SA Supporter group along with a couple of South Australians. One couple had sponsored tow players and had invited along another couple as their guests. The two husbands sat on our table. The wife sponsored Josh Thomas.
Bucks speech was excellent but as you expect from Bucks he was very formal and serious. His message to the players was quite inspiring and succinct.
A transcript of his speech is here: http://www.collingwoodfc.com.au/newsfea ... fault.aspx
It was good to see the details of the three inductees to the Hall of Fame. I have always been a Scott Burns fan and wear his name and number on me guernsey to this day. It was most enjoyable to see his induction. He really is a quality bloke.
Once again, thanks for the opportunity.
I will post a few images over the next few days.
Regards,
Phill.
