haha self-immolated? good one.
yeah, I've given up getting ticked off at the 10-20 metre kick/marks that are sometimes paid and sometimes not - very grey area, but always seems the Pies get the wrong end of that one.
What about tackles - dropping the ball???? What do we have to get that these days?
And Cloke - how many shots at goal has he been deprived of because of umpires conveniently ignoring what's happening to him??

Well, technically the umpire was correct. The kick wasn't 15 metres...

... it was bloody well 20 metres or more!

People can point to the free kick after the game to make whatever they want from that. For mine, it's not just the dodgy frees that do get paid, it's the ones that don't get paid that hurt and don't show up in the stats.

I don't want the game to be over umpired, I'd prefer if I didn't even notice the pricks were out there. Leave the soft bullshit frees alone, be consistent and do it for both teams, and make players earn them. No problems from me, as long as they're consistent.

When I see Collingwood players gang raped and get nothing, yet an opposition player gets a free kick for falling over at the right time it gives me the shucking fits.

This doesn't help our cause... The free was there so how was it 'milked'.

I milked it, admits Fasolo - AFL.COM.AU

COLLINGWOOD forward Alex Fasolo says he was ready to play on and admits he 'milked' the contentious 50m penalty that sealed Collingwood's win over Geelong on Friday night.

Fasolo took a mark 70 metres from goal with scores level and just over a minute remaining on the clock when he was held up by Cats defender Josh Hunt.

The slight contact from Hunt was enough to convince umpire Matt Stevic to blow the whistle and put Fasolo within goal scoring range.

He kicked his third goal of the night to give the Magpies the lead and seal the win for his team.

Not sure how a defender wrapping their arms around you is classified as 'slight contact'.

it's the lot of a forward......remember when Tarrant FINALLY got a free in the forward line (I was there when Tarrant got a free)....nothing has changed, it's just Cloke now and not Tarrant

The feeling I got was that Fasolo out smarted Hunt and made the motion to handpass to sucker Hunt into tackling him, hence the commit "I milked it". Nothing wrong with it, it's smart play on the part of Fasolo and dumb play on the part of Hunt because he didn't need to tackle Fasolo he could've just raised his hand to bloke the line the handpass was going to be made.

Free kick WAS there and a beautiful finish under pressure by Fasolo. Great win in general considering the outs we had before the game and then the injuries during the game.

Fatsolo admitted afterwards that he shouldn't have used the word "milked". But then again, there is nothing wrong with milking an infringement for all its worth - its not like he bloody well staged for the free.

Maybe someone from the MRP wrote the article? "Insufficient force to constitute a charge" is one of their favourite terms, so that fits well with classifying this incident as "slight contact". Hunt had Fas in a danged bear hug. It looked like he was going to give the young fella a big Merv Hughes-style toungey in the ear!

In other news, Luke Holmesby from the AFL reports that Robin Gibb is "slightly" dead and Tania Buckley is "a little bit" pregnant.

Slight contact my a$$!!

this for me, exactly right. You can see its frustrating Trav. Plays in front gets smashed in the back, across the head, jumper held - no free. Then he starts playing from behind and abusing the umps.
Dawes as well is getting shocking treatment this year.

The one I was most disturbed about on the night - was in the 3rd qtr, Ben Reid made a perfect spoil of a marking attempt, he hit the ball FLUSH with his fist. The idiot in lime green paid a free kick for "high contact" as his arm brushed bloody Selwood's head on the way through. I couldn't believe it!!!! Is it still a contact sport????

I want an explanation from the 'Geisch' as to why our big forwards in Cloke and Dawes are receiving shocking treatment from the umpires.

In particular with Cloke, I would like to mention on several occasions in the past few matches that constantly his opponent has made infringes on him that should have resulted in free kicks to him but instead they are ignored. I cannot blame him for getting angry about it as I've seen forwards like Hawkins and Kennedy receiving free kicks for similar infringes.

The main thing that pisses me off about the umpiring in general is the consistency. The Bulldogs match in round 6 was one of the worst umpiring displays I've ever seen. In one incident I remember witnessing 'big' Will Minson throwing the ball and not being penalised, whereas on the other hand our player got penalised for a similar incident. The consistency needs to improve. Far too often, the bloody umpires are too unpredictable and getting too involved in the game.
