God bless Jim. No one deserves to go through that journey and be defeated after all you did to win.

I wish the medico's would be upfront or better still our vile media and stop running stories about cancer break throughs. The truth is they are no closer to curing this thing than they were 50 years ago. They don't really understand it and the treatments are often worse than the disease. I have seen a few suffer with chemo and it wrecks them. Surely our Government need to invest a shit load more into scientific research after this latest tragedy. We are clearly not doing enough.
I love this club and I hold anyone in contempt who does not think it is worth fighting for.

RIP Jim. Such a great man and someone that we all should look up to for inspiration and who we should all aspire to be like.

He will be sorely missed, but never forgotten by the Football world and society in general.

Sad day for Footscray supporters and others who may remember him playing or coaching.

The Bulldogs now have neither a living premiership captain nor a living premiership coach:

The old Doggie has gone, rest in peace Charlie. I admire his lifelong love of a club, a team which has underperfomed for decades, its last GF was in 1961, fifty years ago, not one GF since then. ! You have to admire guys like Charlie, who stuck with em through all those years of failure. One of a kind was Charlie Sutton, like our Lou Richards.

i grew up in the shadows of the western oval, and over the years i used to sneak thru the holes cut in the fence behind the olympic tyres score board and watch the game.
met charlie on numerous occasions,he was idolised by all the west footscray supporters.
and as a publican he knew how to serve up a great beer.

Charlie was old school. Tough, staunch, working class and proud of it. Sadly, he was just about the last of his kind left in football.

RIP Charlie, you were a champ to the end.
