I meant he would have got paid for the interview anyway.
He didn't need to answer the questions in a manner that attracted wide-spread criticism.
There are different ways of talking without actually saying a lot, this wasn't one of them.
Stop sugar-coating it.

Folks, you'll do your head in trying to control everything. Not every incident that doesn't go according to the perceived plan and timeline is going to sink the ship or even affect it in the slightest. No need to scapegoat Trav or anyone else for going about their business in their own time; most negotiations are not upsetting emotional experiences for those involved, so why do they need to be fore those looking on? Put some rational distance in things, for goodness' sake.
In the end the rain comes down, washes clean the streets of a blue sky town.

Would he have been paid?
He would have got paid without spitting garbage that he did last night.
What part can you quote from the interview, that think was garbage?

The whole Travis Cloke contract debacle has become tiring. Ed was right when talking to Robbo and Gerard Whateley the other night on AFL 360 when he said journalists have become too focused on contracts of players instead of what the players are displaying on the footy field.

If people want free agency to take place, they then have to get used to the fact that these rumours and stories will happen every year.

However, I'm really hoping Cloke can re-sign with the club sooner rather than later. We don't want to have distractions come finals time.

Completely selfish. Pretty disgusting...

Honestly think there is scope to save the $800k and get a couple of free agents for $400k each who want to win a premiership.
I was out and missed the FS, but i taped it. Dont think i will bother to watch it now, what a crock of shit, its nearly blackmail now. I like Clokey, but this is ridiculous now, if he goes, we get two early picks and we can keep all our other young guns, like Beams and Reid etc. Getting fed up with cloke now, bigtime. :P :x

Where are the 2 early picks coming from? He is a free agent, you don't get the same compensation you get for people leaving to GWS or GC and he won't be getting traded, the club he is going to has already said they aint giving up their top picks

10 year players can leave freely, Travis falls under restricted free agency so the club can match any offer made to him but obviously they wont be able to

So thats why Travis does have a good bargaining position, he can walk without having to be traded

Travis has lost me after last night's performance.

To use a public forum to try to pressure Collingwood was a disgrace. Using the footy show to push his case for a 5 yr deal and to confirm that he'd been offered $1million a year by Freo was pathetic. He should not be doing running commentaries on these negotiations. I hope the club now plays hardball. This is what we're offering, take it or leave it.
