Not everyone out of contract airs negotiations to the world at every opportunity and not everyone out of contact makes Bucks and Ed direct not so subtle barbs at them.eddiesmith wrote:So they going to take the same approach with everyone out of contract atm? That will be great, we will have a couple of million in the cap but lose 4-5 premiership players. Even Melbourne is run better than that...RudeBoy wrote:The club should now start reducing its offer by at least $25,000 each week until he signs. It has dragged on long enough and for the sake of certainty and team morale going into the finals it needs to be resolved.

All that means is that he won't entertain the job until there is a vacancy. Once they sack Ratten and declare they are in the market for a coach Malthouse will be first in line for the job.doriswilgus wrote:Malthouse said today he would never step on the grave of another coach^.So if he's true to his word,he couldn't possibly go to Carlton next year, especially after what he said about Ratten today.

Would you like fries with that Brucey?RudeBoy wrote:I've been saying for a while I think Cloke and Malthouse will both end up at Carlton as a package deal.Brenny wrote:On the couch seem to think Carlton could be in for a massive play on Cloke.
And all paid for by Visyboard no doubt.
Ratts still has year 2013 of his contract to paid out if terminated?
That place will start to look like the Collingwood graveyard!
You sound rather confident, like it's a fait accompli?RudeBoy wrote:All that means is that he won't entertain the job until there is a vacancy. Remember, the Eddie-clause in MM's 2009 contract? No other club in 2012, if declining the director role. Thus does Brown baby-sit this garbage until round 24, if this all goes down?
Anyhoo, thought for the day - The Rat is toast, but the Fox is patient...

When you're a club in desperate need of a big forwrd to take the next step, you find the money.
Waite is past it and they will get a good 5-6yrs out of Cloke.
If they are not looking at Cloke, then they are doing their members a disservice.
Do I know whether or not they can afford Cloke, no. Do I know whether or not Judd's contract is up and he's taking a pay cut to get Cloke, no.
Maybe the AFL will approve a 3rd party deal to snare Cloke, if so good on them.
Not saying Cloke will go or not, I think he will stay. Not that I really care at this point in time.
Same goes for the Bulldogs, they need a forward as do Freo.
Don't be surprised if Cloke gets a 3rd party deal at the pies with CGU or something. Or Westpac.
