Jezza wrote:There is a clear sign that Cloke's form has dropped off a bit in comparison to last year.

In 2011, Cloke averaged:
Kicks: 13
Marks: 8
Handballs: 3
Disposals: 16
Goals: 2.76
Behinds: 1.92

In 2012, Cloke has averaged so far:
Kicks: 11
Marks: 6
Handballs: 3
Disposals: 13
Goals: 2.38
Behinds: 1.23

So by comparing these basic stats, it is clear that Cloke hasn't had much of an impact in games as compared to 2011. However he hasn't dramatically dropped off the radar either.

The sooner he makes a decision, the better it is for all parties concerned. I just hope he can re-sign and be grateful for what the club can offer him.
Those figures are pretty close, but he came with a rush towards the second half of the season last year. he'll need to do that again if we are to go all the way.
I hold a cup of wisdom, but there is nothing within.

Cloke doesn't have the same strong hands, attack at the ball nor does he look as explosive as last year. Less impact on games and less pack splitting crumbs for teammates.

By buckley coming out and saying it`s affecting the Cloke "brand" and "product" tells me he has had enough of one player holding the club to ransom by his and mainly father Damir`s excessive demands,he either acceps the offer which i think on his current output is paying overs and we tell him he has a 2 week deadline or he can move on and be viewed as a selfish mercenary, a premiership is at stake here. enough is enough

IN pre decimal currency, 1966, right now on present form, our Trav is worth about two shillings and sixpence. !

+1

We have other players to sign that are just as important.

If he is not willing to take a cut to keep this group together then let him go.

If anything he is currently worth less than what he is on now.
All this may be summed up in one word - CHARACTER - and if that is not worth developing, nothing is.

Travis Cloke 163 games for 257 goals.

Lance Franklin 155 games for 498 goals.

And the Clokes want more money.

Do I need to say more?

If 1 million dollars can turn a 2 goal a game av,into a 5 goal a game av,well lets do it,pay the money.
There is no way in hell, that at any club, can that happen, unless the player goes to extroadinary lengths to better his game, extra training, weights, diet, etc etc.
No money in the world will turn trav into a elite player.
Its up to trav to preform.
And be the player that he can be.

Say no more.

Lance Franklin : 498 goals at 3.21 per game

Travis Cloke : 257 goals at 1.52 per game

More than double the difference, if Buddy is on 800k,the rough equation would be Travis at 400k.
Smell the roses Trav, take the generous Pies offer or go

Even Roughead's goal averages are better than Cloke's.

Absolutely sick of Pies fans potting Cloke...

Let's see;
Franklin career marks 826 vs Cloke; 1077
Frees against; Franklin 330 vs Cloke 135

Franklin likes red socks and Cloke blue.... WGAFF...

The boy is a Pie, wants to stay a Pie but is trying to get the best deal after Collingwood played it very poorly last contract negotiation. He is a Copeland trophy winner.

I am sick of it taking so long as well, but turning on Cloke is not the answer. Collingwood is doing their best to get a deal done with THE BEST power fwd in the game. Not necessarily the best goalkicker. If he was both, then god help us, we'd never be able to to fit him in.

Scrutinise but stop coming up with one sided/half baked comparisons. Comparing him to othe players is worthless unless they play the same role and then, If you want to do that, pick up on all attributes and not just goal kicking. That is not his strength.

Here's hoping he stays!!!!

THAT right in front, shit easy shot he missed the other night, turned the game kinda, he gets a point from dead shot, -we had the intiative then-the Scum race it down, and get a goal, a 2 goal turn around. ! HE is a GREAT mark, but he misses far too many sodas, and it just kills the team. HE is no peter Mckenna, and should be well satisfied to be on even $400K. His old man should grow up and realise that too. !

They both play the same role/position as key position forwards. at the end of the day leading contested marks counts for jack in the face of kicking goals, it`s goals that win you matches, no point leading contested marks and then proceed to spray every fourth kick to the pie boy in the stands

Hope he stays. if not ce sera sera. your not worth anything near Buddy Trav

Buckley is right. This never ending saga is indeed damaging the brand of the club and cloke's brand. What did he achieve by going live to air on the footy show against the coach's advice and being interviewed? Nothing! It only added further speculation about his ambitions. I can understand that he wants the best deal for himself and to set himself up for the future but he has to understand that it might come at the cost of some of our young talented players who we may end up losing as a result of Cloke's huge demands. Yes he is a strong power forward with exceptional talent who can influence games. We all know what he is capable of but we're unfortunately not seeing it this year and he's not helping the situation by underperforming in games while demanding close to a million dollars a year for 5 years. Furthermore, his father is not helping the situation by playing this out in the media either. i admire cloke for his talent and ability on the field and hope that he stays but the longer this drags on, the more annoyed i get hearing about it and i can't help but think about a potential trade.

The HUN reporting The Scum have offered Cloke $5Mill/5yrs.
Also, apparently there is a huge meeting on today with all the big guns involved (as reported on SEN)... Walsh, Eddie, Pert vsCarr, Cloke snr.

Aparently Eddie does not want anything done whilst he was away at The Olympics.

mmmm.
I want him to stay but if he goes, like everyone here, if he goes to the Scum, well. That would hurt!!!!
I would not wish him well (to state the obvious).

I hope something gets sorted this week...

The Olympics don't finish until 12 August, so that would mean nothing gets done until after round 20, at the earliest. They start on 27 July & Eddie would be there before then, so that doesn't leave much time to get it done before he leaves. Looks like its going to drag out for some time yet.
