Given the arrant rubbish written about him on this board and others by 'supporters' I wouldn't blame him if he did go. Such commentaries would hardly encourage him to stay if he could be bothered reading them.

And RR on his recent performance he should expect to cop it as well, it's a two way street.
It was for all to see last night, he did nothing last night except show up. The team is playing games with one less player at the moment. Resolve it either way is my view. If he is going no problem, he doesn't play seniors and misses out. I would rather someone in the team giving 100% than just turning up going through the motions. You can be happy with the one of the best doing nothing, I will be unhappy about it.

And if there were no contract negotiations going on we would have just said he had a poor game in atrocious weather conditions for a tall marking forward. Get some perspective.

correct weight... It was a terrible night for marking forwards, and our midfield did not make it easy for him by bombing it all night to a contest. No top forward would have had a great game the way that was played last night. I actually thought he worked his arse off getting up the ground and making contests. He's a young man and after footy he will never earn like this again (plus with tax he only sees about half of it anyway). When the time comes the club - any club - will cut him loose regardless of how much of his blood stains the jumper. So I cannot blame him or his old man. I hope he stays and we get him on reasonable terms, but I'll wish him well even if he goes. To us it's a passionate game, but for him it's his life and future.

Few weeks ago he won the game forus v Eagles. Without that win top 4 would be looking difficult. Taz is one soft tissue injury away from being finished and Dawes is having a poor season.

I accept its a frustrating situation, but have a look at the Magoos. Then tell me we don't badly need Cloke. It's a given.

No he didn't, Cloke kicked a few on Rivers and didn't trouble the scorers once Frawley went to him.

I've been very disappointed by the Clokes' behaviour throughout this soap opera, but unlike some Nicksters, I do not question his importance to our team. He is without doubt a great player, and we need him firing to win the flag this year.

So far it seems most, if not all of us, have assumed that Travis wants to stay a Pie, but is simply trying to squeeze a bit more dough out of the club. Most commentators have been suggesting for several weeks now that a deal is close and will be announced soon. That may still be the case and he may indeed agree to terms with the club soon. However, the longer it drags on, and the closer it gets to finals time, the more I'm beginning to smell a rat. What if Cloke actually intends to go after a multi million dollar deal elsewhere, but doesn't have the guts to tell the club that? Perhaps he and his old man have been stringing the club along, letting them think they are close to a deal, when all along their plan is for him to pursue a better financial deal elsewhere? I hope I'm wrong and that Travis agrees to stay a Pie, but at a salary which does not stretch our salary cap and corrode the team culture the club has spent so long creating.

That has real merit, but Sydney would not do that deal even in our wildest dreams. Add in the fact that they would be dealing with Papa Cloke and that would send the Sydney heirachy packing.

Speaking of Papa Cloke, did anyone see the footage of him lifting weights on The Game this morning? Basically, it was a full frontal shot of him lifting weights and then resting the bar on his um, ah.....groin area. Talk about a cut lunch. I had to throw my weight bix away after that.

COLLINGWOOD coach Nathan Buckley yesterday issued out-of-contract forward Travis Cloke with a blunt missive: lift now.


Buckley yesterday spoke of his star forward's form slump, as he again reinforced the club's "team before individual contract" policy.

Cloke was kept to nine possessions and one goal by Tom Lonergan on Saturday night, with his first mark coming late in the last term.

Buckley acknowledged Lonergan's dominance but noted Cloke's conqueror last week - Michael Jamison - was demolished by North Melbourne's Drew Petrie on Friday night.

"Clokey is one who needs to improve his form," he said. "There is plenty of speculation about (his contract) and there are myriad things which affect form - a player's relationship status, what's going on at home, the extremes required of your body. But when you go over the white line you are expected to deal with it."

He told 3AW he was still confident Cloke would remain at Collingwood, but repeated the team-first mantra.

"I am not more-or-less confident. I am very confident Travis wants to stay at the club and he will understand the situation of the playing list and the TPP (total player payments), and we will find a happy medium that will have both parties going forward."

Former Pies coach Mick Malthouse yesterday questioned David Cloke's role in his son's contract negotiations.

Asked yesterday whether David was the right person to be brokering a new deal for the key forward, Malthouse said: "I don't think so. I know the club is finding it very difficult. I think fathers have got a place to play.

"They are clearly proud and they want to give the player as best instructions and foresight as you possibly can," he said on Channel Seven.

"But keep away from the other side of things. David has been involved clearly with Jason and Cameron and now Trav, of course, but I just don't think it works, quite frankly."
