Yeah well the players who REALLY want to stay at Collingwood have already signed for less than their supposed market value.
Beams, Read, O'Brien, and Goldy say hi. All will most likely stay, as will Cloke.

Still don't understand the hate and vitriol directed at Cloke and particularly don't get how the club aren't carrying any of the flak given it's a two party negotiation.

Nobody here knows exactly what Cloke is asking for. Nobody here knows what the club is offering. Nobody knows what the difference between the two parties is or who has moved positions as part of the negotiations. Yet nearly everybody is certain it's Cloke's fault?

Nobody here knows what other offers have been made or how these compare to what we have put on the table. Yet almost everybody knows Cloke is being unreasonable and greedy.?

Nobody here knows the extent of the haircut he is being asked to take and how it compares to other sacrifices presumably made by guys like Swan, Thomas and Pendles yet nearly everyone here assumes Cloke to be less loyal and honourable?

This is despite the fact that last time around he took much less to stay at the club than he could has got by going to Essendon. Not to mention it also ignores the fact that both Pendles and Daisy signed shorter term deals to maximise their commercial value and that Daisy held out signing until September, regularly used the media to make it known he wasn't happy with the way negotiations were going and refused to rule out going to GWS (all of which he is entitled to do).

For all any of you know, the delay might be the result of the club waiting to hear what other players are doing before being in a position to offer Trav its final offer. They could be waiting to hear back from Reid's manager before deciding what's going on. They might be waiting to hear from Taz about what he's doing next year. They might be waiting to hear back from the AFL on what's acceptable as a third party component of the Cloke deal. None of you know shit about any of this , yet you are still happy to shit all over a guy whose been here since he's 17, who is a premiership chf, and who has never shown anything but loyalty to the club. Weak as piss. Seriously WEAK AS PISS.

Negotiation is a two way street as is loyalty. Cloke has demonstrated this before and hopefully will again. It would be nice if a few fans could do the same.

The difference is that in Cloke's case his form is affected, and this has a knock-on effect of decreasing Collingwood's chances of achieving the ultimate aim of a premiership in 2012.

He will accept more money to go.

Either way we have our answer on where his views on life, footy, collingwood and his team mates.

If he stays - some will look silly as contact talks are a part of footy and its only the free agency rules that is blowing it up out of the ordinary. If this is the case we better get used to it as plenty more players will go through the same. If he stays Ill be wrapt as at his best there is no better at "what he does".

If he goes, carlton or otherwise, then the team we have and are continuing to build, with character as one of the most important qualities (a fact Hine is on record as looking for) does not want him !!
Sidey, Pendles, daisy, beams, swan and if they stay wellers, Reid, Harry all could have left for more money and chose to stay for less. These are the blokes I want at the club and I think when it is said and done, Trav is one of them.
His old man Im not so sure about so we will see.

 Didn't Cloke do that 2 years ago?

Oh well, I guess until the Cloke saga ends, we will have ourselves the 3 scapegoats we need to pin our failures on.

He DID state on the footy show that the money was a MAJOR factor and he owed it to himsld to get the best possible deal. It is reasonable to assume that we are not willing to equal the $1M/year for 5 years that Cloke all but confirmed on the footy show.

Start by saying Trav was one of my favs.

But have to say he is not a $1M/year player. He is a gun player, but not the best player running around. If he converted his opportunities better, he would be. That flaw alone reduces his value as the best going around.

He also needs to consider he is together with a list that needs a bite of the pie also. This is not Carlton. THe benifit of that is that we a premiership chance. He may get $1M elsewhere, but far less likely for a flag.

I'm sure this has been discused at length.

If ~$700k/season is being offered, he should take it. It is fair and resonable, all things considered.

This appears to be impacting on our season and Clokes form. It shows that he is not a $1M player. Accordingly, sign or don't sign and we drop him to the VFL. I've had a gut full. Cloke has done himself no favours . Club is bigger than the player. We'll move on and start training big Jacko and Dawes for the positions. Also alow us into the Free Trade market.

Let him go to Carlton.

They can give him the 250k extra a year because Judd is paid that by "Visy" outside the cap.

Ok, so the amount of money is a major factor in the contract negotiations. Check. Collingwood is not willing to pay $1million per year over 5 years. Check. And? Sorry, but how does this justifiy all the shit going Cloke's way? It says nothing about what Cloke is after or would be satisfied with or what the club is offering. Again, nobody here has any idea about this except that its probably between $500-900k and might be over 4-5 years. That's the extent of the details, and even these are fuzzy. And now apparently Robert Walls word is gospel. Spare me.
