This entire thread is almost a fact free zone.

You don't have a great deal of respect for your fellow posters, some more than others are well informed. Brian like many of the posters is fairly well connected to the club, so he is hardly likely to put something up that is a lie at minimum.

My source was pretty accurate 4 days after the Monday talks and when the club had asked for a decision that they were again poles apart by the Friday. He told me that later that night. This time that same source has said its up in the air, so read what you will of that.

And the same source said it's now in the head of Cloke, which could mean anything!!!!!!!!!!

My gut feeling knowing a little about how the Clokes minds work from years of observation, David is being blinkered. Travs Carlton comments were either deliberate to scare Collingwood or stupid, or accurate because he is really considering a move.

Only time will tell us. Obvious statement.

And RR as passionate as you are, you perhaps should open up your mind to other people at times. You love Cloke obviously, we can see that, but having seen my heart throb Peter McKenna need to move to Carlton because my club saw fit to let this happen, nothing in life is a SHAW thing. In our modern era moreso than the 70's, money talks. Travis says he wants market rate. We can't give him this, so he wants more years, Collingwood don't think he is worth this.

Clokes both senior and junior should have done what they said they were going to and not discuss this during the season. Then they got shitty coz the club were dragging their feet. Seriously, in corporate world they would fail. But this is football, packed with emotion, some of which some of us saw on Sunday morning after our loss, pretty ugly.

Cloke however is not the end nor the beginning of our world. If he does go to Carlton, good luck to him but he will never be a household name, nor have any particular monetary cudos once he runs out of this cash in some dodgy share deal his manager got on to.

Travis has had 2 standout years at the club and yet the Clokes have caused major issues during each and every contract negotiation.

With our current list I doubt we can win a flag without him but David & co are once again showing a lack of professionalism and respect to the club that has supported the Cloke family for 2 generations now. It pains me to say this but I have reached the point that if we could somehow gain 2 first round picks for him I'd say 'thanks for coming Trav'.

Simple, Clokes don't always work hard but expect huge benefits everytime. I thought I covered that?

I am Collingwood through and through and would hate to lose Cloke.... but the AFL has made all this possible and we have to live with it, like West Coast did with Judd and like Ball did with the Aints.

ah, ic...but my person did and in fairness, so did Cloke last year, but again he was motivated in part by a KPI'ed contract that required extra payments from the goals he kicked.

Fine but Judd didn't hold the weagles to ransom and Ball got hung by his club. Different examples.

Poor analogy.

Chris Judd was "coming home" and Luke Ball's opportunities were limited at St Kilda under Ross Lyon.

Trav is already "home" and is the starting CHF for our team. The only reason he would leave is for more money. Not to go home. Not for greater opportunity.

You can remove Luke Ball, he didn't get, and still isn't getting anymore to play for Collingwood than he did at the Saints.

Cloke's form is an absolute joke.

We must give him a performance based contract.

Imagine if we said we'll give you 1.5x your Supercoach value at the end of the year for 5 years.

Last year he would have got paid $794,700.

This year he would be looking at $501,150 so far, with that dropping below 500k if he doesn't perform in the next few weeks.

what has been exposed is the poor/amatuer negotiationg skills of his management and also the mental fragility of Travis.

Not performing while these negotiations have stalled or reached an impasse reflects badly on Travis.

His market value is dropping both internal and external, I am not sure what we get for compensation but Collingwood should not be held over a barrell and if compensation is 2 first round picks do it.

Its clear (from looking at the Travis body language and that of his team mates from the tele) there is a problem, can that be repaired?

Any team has to have a mutal respect amongst the members and I am not sure thats there at present.

Hawthorn managed to overcome brilliantly the loss of their key forward, if we stop the bloody stupid turnovers and allowing opposition teams to free up players in the middle corridor, no matter who is in our forward line, we wont win Grand Finals.

His form is not acceptable .

i go to all games in VIC and watch interstate games and replays as well and i get the feeling that his teammates might be looking away from him not at him especially when they are looking to pass into the forward line .

So time for everyone at Collingwood to stop the line that is said nearly every week that he will sign in next 2 weeks and draw a line in the sand and say give him one week to say yes or no .

If yes then maybe his teammates will again accept him if not then stop the rot or no one will have to worry about grand final tickets.


The form of Cloke is not the main reason we lost to the Blues or the Hawks there are at least 8 more that have a serious effect on the CFC to play good football BUT the CLOKE issue is being highlighted too often .

So from today give him his dad his mother his grandmother only 7 days to take it or leave it .

So how many on Nicks have had protracted Wage increase discussions that were over more than 8 months ?
