If this is the case, the club needs to review their staff and re-enforce the confidentiality clauses of their contracts.

I wonder what the motivation is for these "sources" to pass on information, are they trying to make themselves feel important for a short time, or do they think the people they tell will not pass it on?
I'm sure plenty of posters here on Nicks have sources at the club.

Realistically, 95% of people working at footy clubs are just your average Joe Blows. I've got a mate who works at the Dogs as a part time recruiter and even he ocassionally gives me the odd tid bit about the Pies (mainly run of the mill, irrelevant stuff).... and he doesnt even work there!

That's my point....."average Joe Blows" pumping their tyres up and trying to seem important.

Pie 65 wrote:A mate of Dale Thomas down Sale told me that Dale asked Travis straight up. The conversation went something like this.

Dale Thomas - what is the hold up Travis, you staying or going.

Travis Cloke - I want to re-sign and stay, but Dad won't let me.

Dale Thomas - looks like you will be at Melbourne or Fremantle next year.

Travis Cloke - I'm in a no win situation, I can't resign here now b/c of dad & I fear Collingwood will re-sign other players meaning I can't stay.

No wonder he is playing badly. His mind is totally cluttered. Remember last time he resigned for us when he was in Bali, Travis over-ruled his father then.

David Cloke has is eyes on the Melbourne deal.

The quite word from multiple sources now (inc some journos like Sheehan On the Coach and Brad Hardie who does the 6PR Perth Sports Tonight program from the 3AW studios; Mick Malthouse said the 7 year deal with Melbourne was on) is that:-

Melbourne have offered Travis Cloke a 7 year contract @ 7 million.

They will front end it.

So Melbourne pay $2 million each of the first and second years of Travis contract; while their team is ordinary, and then still have money for their developing list when they are up and running. Melbourne also get 3 first picks in this draft.

Travis and his old man can't say no. That is why they have backed out of negotiations with Collingwod all together and David and Ralph Carr will not return calls or no longer talk about it through Mark Robinson in the Herald Sun or AFL 360. There was a time Robbo was on about it every night. Now nothing.

David Cloke has made his mind up and we (including Travis), all have to suffer.

Everyone thinks free agency means, players go to the top teams. If you look at the NFL in America, it is the exact opposite. Players go to teams with Salary Cap room.

With Mitch Clark and Travis Cloke and 3 first round draft picks and lots and lots of salary cap room. Melbourne see themselves as set.

Forget Travis Cloke's form this year.

Next year, he will have a clear mind at Melbourne and with Mitch Clark, they will make quite a pair.

So he is Daddy's Little Boy
I am Da Man

Maybe.... but often they'll just come across info or overhear something and pass it onto a mate or family member and then it spreads. Not really sinister rumouring.

Just like anything really... same deal in workplaces, schools.... anywhere really.

I do agree Pies 65 - Cloke Sr has a hidden agenda and Travis is the innocent pawn in the whole process.

He is gone - but what compensation do we get ?

Pick 19 or 20? Seems a bit out of whack to me.

It would have to be something a little more than that??

As I said, it is totally at the discretion of the AFL.

But they have publicly said they are trying to cut back on compesation picks.

Or at least lower the value as there may be a flush of free agents change hands under the new system. imagine if 15 free agents changed hands in a year, all worth a first pick. The premier in the previous year would not get to select in the draft till 35.

Yes, I am just speculating re what we would get.

If Travis Cloke were to quit football to work in the adult film industry, would you watch? And what sort of sum might he command if he grew a 'David Cloke' porn moustache?
It is Cameron Cloke who should join the porn industry; if you have ever stood beside him in the urinals of the MCG; you would know why!

Ah back to business as usual... unsubstantiated rumours, suppositions, assumptions, aspersions. innuendo and abuse. Roll on Page 75 I say.
