For mine it will be about who goes because he stays, what his teammates think of that, and how the lost players perform at their new clubs.

If we lost a couple because of the cap and they perform well, with Travis unable to recapture his 2011 form, then I think I'd hold it against him.

The fact is that, go or stay, if we don't win the flag this year his contract negotiations will be considered to be a factor.

Oh the blessed irony to read these threads and see who is really willing to defend market pricing and the right to contract freely

This sad situation will never stop until David undertands his good work has cost two of his three sons their careers.

I hope he is a better man than he appears, and puts the furture of Travis above those of his media popularity. All of us at Collingwood want him to stay however, we would all prefer he finds a place to find his talent again regardless of the club.

There are no Collingwood supporters that want you to stay at Collinwood however, if it's impossible for your Dad, do what you can to stay in the game because you are a better footballer than your Dad ever was.

Did you read the book of glove
And do you have faith in Eddie above
If Mark Robbo tells you so?
Now do you believe Balmey left a roll?
Will Trav ever learn how to kick a goal?
Now that David has no more Clokes to grow

Sick and Tired of David Cloke

Post by Robbie »

Travis was such a great player for the Collingwood Football Club he won the Copeland at an age most would believe impossible.

I do not believe this is the same man asking Collingwood to match the offer of womble teams that will never see the finals. If indeed you want five years at $1.1m per year then for God'e sake do it and make your father proud, because he knows his career is finished. The fact you can be part of something great should in no way influence you to strive for excellence when your father is striving for commission.

I just hope you are able to make your peace with your father, and he can justify his actions to God.

You are too good a footballer to allow your father to destroy your future at any Club you choose.

Remember we at the Pies love you and will support you no matter what. Unfotunately David's negotiation techniques are yesterday's news and his profile does nothing for your income. David left Richmond for money and probably regrets it, but nobody cares what David thinks. You can feel the same just by taking the largest offer.

Too all you doubters, Travis will be on fire this week. He will show us all against GWS and come out and kick 2 goals 4 with 3 out on the full.

We are talking about a father who has advised his son that there is 1.5 million more over five years on offer.

Would you as a father advise not to negotiate with Collingwood or state they will need to come close to the other offers or stitch up something long term post football.

Ablett, Judd and Scully all went for the money... ask them did they make a bad decision?

I am all for Cloke staying and think that he will.... but if my manager was pushing me into a corner and telling me that I should ignore an extra 1.5 million over five years I would sack him.

The Melbourne deal is 7 million over 7 years. Hard to say no too.

I fear Travis will leave next year and also will continue to under perform this year.

Without him firing, our season is on a knife edge.

Ando on 3AW said we will only get one first round pick if Travis leaves.

Hey! I've been thoroughly consistent in calling for an end to the salary cap and free agency/ I have said Cloke can go wherever he wants to but that there is no way on earth we should be paying him what he is patently NOT worth!

Right now he is worth less than what Beams just re-signed for. That's market value Cloke, it works BOTH ways! :P

Collingwood announced in the statement yestertday that contract discussions were being put on hold until years end so that speculation could in theory dissappear until then .

Sadly 3aw did not understand what was intended . Just heard the comment that if Collingwood do not sign Travis Cloke they will not win the premiership this year , next year or the year after .

The Travis Cloke saga will be discussed at huge levels in the press . This will stuff up our finals campaign .

SIMPLE ANSWER - Call a press conference announce that Cloke will not be played ever again and that any contract offers have been withdrawn .
