Don't think the club is to blame for what is happening here. It's something that's being done to us in this instance.

We need a Travis Cloke board, the main board might not be littered with so many then.

If you believe all the figures being thrown around, then Collingwood's offer to Cloke is only about $100,000 to $150,000 a year less than the other clubs are offering him after tax is taken out.Is it really worth all the trouble and disruption to take that bit extra cash?I would have thought that once you get $700,000 a year, another 100,000 or so wouldn't make that much difference, but then maybe i'm not as greedy as some people.

Unlike the Pies it will have little effect on them being able to retain their star players as they have NONE.

Call me a dumb ass but I still think Travis will stay.

But really $7M for 7yrs is a good deal, if in fact that's true.

Also, MEL are utterly shit & they won't get anywhere near the top 8 for the next 5yrs.
So if Travis is happy to go out & just play footy like GAJnr & Scully, then so be it...

I don't get this.

So just because the Club have called off negotiations, what makes people think he's gone?

I think Travis will stay, FWIW.

I agree with what the Club has done.
Leave it till the end of the year and see what he is REALLY worth.

My guess is Freo will baulk at $5mill for 5 years when they see what can and can't do.

Lol negotiations being put off has nothing to do with worth or the lack of it. Its simply to cool down the circus that has developed after the Clokes' and the Club's injudicious statements, and allow Cloke to do what he does best for Collingwood which is play football, hoepfully free of presure.

it seems like the club is fed up with all the posturing of the Clokes and basically decided "this is going around in circles" and have said, we'll deal with it at the end of the year.

What i think that also says is: "..... and Clokes, you'll get offered whatever money there is left at that stage."

There is no way known contract negotiations with Reid, Wellingham, Beams, Harry & Goldy will be on hold until the Cloke decision anymore.... they'll get signed up in the coming months and Cloke takes what's left or pisses off.

As I've said all along - Playing out contract negotiations in public is not good for anyone. This one should've been nipped in the bud much earlier.
