Just terrible news
A hotel I've been in, and a player who I saw play every one of his games for Collingwood
Just been so angry about the weekend, but it is only a game, and it's hard to get emotional about tactics and game plans when a kid who played for my team is gone so young.
We'll get back up - it's what we do as supporters, but for tonight I'm not watching footy shows and letting things be
RIP JMac, side by side.

Rest in Piece John Mac
Furthermore us loud lads behind the goals will be bringing in some black tape this saturday night.
Will all be wearing as a mark of respect for what we consider a lost comrad
Anyone wishing to do the same can come grab some of us for a gold coin donation and will see any funds raised get to the Macarthy family (through the CFC)
Whether we raise $16 or $1600 it doesnt matter

RIP John and condolances to his family and the Port Adelaide Football Club and supporters.
Terrible news. Someone on twitter said there is a youtube video of John saying he was still young and had plenty of time to win a flag
Support the ideas for Collingwood fans to do something for this weeks game.

So very sad. My heart sank when I first heard the news, then even lower when I started reading that it was JMac. I liked the kid, wish we'd kept him but was rapt he was getting a go at Port.
It's unfair that not only will this promising young footballer not enjoy a long career, he's been robbed of living a long, happy life. May he rest peacefully.
RIP John McCarthy

He'd been separated from his teammates, apparently. Police still aren't sure what happened, but apparently there were witnesses.

I'm shattered... We watch these boys so closely you almost feel conected... You watch them drafted, play vfl, play there first game, first final and you support them the whole way. Jmac was one of my favourites... He had a crack everytime he pulled on the black and white weather it be vfl or afl. I remember going to aami for the 2008 final v the crows... He only had around 10 touches but in a hot final he had composure and guts and I was wrapped in him. It's a sad sad day... Good or bad these are our boys... Let's always support them... Side by side...
