Magpies v swannies

Post by ck_nd »

Just got home from watching the swannies d. freo. I have never seen such an average game of Australian Fumble (oops I mean football) League in my life. If the swannies performance today is anything to go by then I think the collingwood team should be given a flexi have Williamstown reserves play and I reckon the black and white will still beat the swans... Short of the swannies pulling something out in the next week -- which imho I can't see happening.

Sydney there only chance of beating us is Oloughlin and our players mental attitude on the day. If we play up to our standards we will dispose of Sydney in an efficeient manner. We havnt beat Sydney in Melbourne in ages so this is a good oppotunity to set the record straight.

As for the swannies they were playing desperately this week which will probably explain all the fumbling, mistakes and generally bad football. Like who in the league wants to be the first beaten by freo? Both teams needed the win and the swans got the four points, as for how those points were earned is a totally different story.

Danny, there were no injuries to the swans at the game. Keep in mind that this week was the first week back for Dale Lewis from his broken arm (came back in half way through the second stanza) and Cresswell is back from injury who ended up kicking three goals if my memory serves me correctly.

Also next week Warfe and Stevens are back from one week suspension. This increases the number the selectors have to choose from for the game as round 9 they had to choose 25 players from 26 players available the rest out with injury or suspension.

I don't know when Skipper Kelly will be back but he is running around at training now... should Kelly, Cresswell, Dale Lewis all be playing at the same time and O'Louglin firing then we could be in for a spot of bother. Image

Willo, didn't give Syd any goals but did contribute to setting up goals etc... not an amazing brilliant fall over and die performance but not a bad performance either.

Overall round nine was an exceptionally bad performance for the swans this I would imagine is due to the nerves of facing a must win situation. So I look back to the previous few rounds and see more guts like at least in the syd v doggies game there was a lot of passion and guts involved (this week I think they had all come down with an allergy to leather (both Syd and freo!))

If the Swannies can have a team of all their best Cresswell, Lewis, Kelly, O'Loughin, Nicks etc AND! they are all firing then I am worried... it won't be such an easy game for the Magpies, the swannies should they be in the form that they were in in the first three rounds of this year will be a definate threat. I would imagine that in that situation their biggest problem would be playing interstate and not having a home crowd! (All three of them.) Should Sydney play like they played against Freo I reckon the score will read something like Coll 15.6 96 to Syd 3.8 26 at half time. I can't see Eade letting the swans get away with it.

I think should the swans be firing on sunday then they will be competitive ultimately though I believe they won't beat our Magpies. (Mind you I didn't think essenscum would beat our Magpies so I am playing favourites here LOL!)

Thanks Danny but I would never presume to have even half of the football knowledge that the likes of Mr Malthouse (and many of the great coaches that are out there today) would have in his little finger.

If nothing else I hope my info helps all people out there in making their selections for their tipping competitions.
