Good news from the president

Post by the president »

Hello team. I have just posted this message on the official Collingwood site and thought it more than appropriate to share it with my brothers and sisters here on Nicks.
As well as signing Josh Fraser and Chris Tarrent to long term contracts Shane O'Bree has put pen to paper and signed a three year extension of his contract to play for the Collingwood Football Club.
Shane has been a great player for our club and his efforts over the preseason have been rewarded with his form so far in season 2001. The match committee and the board had no hesitation in offering an extension and equally as gratifying was the ease and goodwill in the negotaiation process.
Both the club and Shane O'Bree are as happy as each other with our on going committment to each other.
The President.

That's just fantastic news Eddie! OB has been the club's most consistent 4 quarter player this year and I'm rapt that he's committed himself to the Pies for the longer term. Well done Eddie and Collingwood!

Prez,

Unbeleivable. This is tuly great news. Cheezy is getting better and better by the game. A future Copeland is awaiting him - maybe even this year Image and also a Brownlow in the future (he's got the hair hasn't he?). Stability is THE key in forming a dynasty and this is what me must acheive. Players of the calibre of Bucks, Tarks, Molloy, Pebbles, Richo, SOC (Son of Craig) also need to be retained for lenghty periods.
Let the dynasty begin.

Awesome news Saint Ed, Obie's a real toughnut and will be pushing for All-Autralian honours if his good form continues.

Now how about we offer my hero the D9 Jarrod Molloy a long term contract with plenty of cash to keep Jaz at Pieland? haha

Probably as important as the signing is the fact that our club president chose to initiate the thread advising us of the good news. Thanks, Eddie.

Treble chuffed pica

Firstly the ongoing signing of our quality players is extremely good news in these times of wandering allegiances. The Club, after a few false starts, has finally built a team of potential champions. This is not a team that has come together at the peak of its players' abilities, like North did, only to play into decline. Our team is a team of youngsters, so talented that they are already threatening the best in the game and these youngsters will mature to their peak together. The sooner we can secure their talents for the long term, the longer we can benefit from the exciting future they promise us. Eddie and his board and football staff are to be commended in acting quickly and decisively to secure these players.

Secondly, from the point of view of the site, of course we're chuffed that Eddie posts on the board, because it brings all of us closer to the Club and the Club closer to us - it's something that Eddie's very good at. Eddie's presence doesn't give the board any more credibility, because the credibility that the site has has been hard won over 6 seasons. We are now starting to reap rewards for sticking with it over one of the worst periods in the Club's history.

Thirdly, personally, we're both extremely chuffed indeed. Looking at it from Nick's point of view: He's a 16 year old kid who lives in the bush in Tassie who can't get to the footy or the Club, but who is known by the President and the Captain of the Mighty Collingwood Football Club - how good is that. And I as a supporter and a parent get a double hit.

Yeah pica - it's not bad.

I just hope the O'Bree contract includes a clause that stipulates that he must keep the dreadlocks. There's no doubt the rastafarian look has improved his football. I'm sure it's also improved his marketability and therefore the marketability of The Club itself.
