We contribute many dollars to help these idiots out.

Every year we play a marquee match on Jack and Tony's girlfriend's birthday.

Or celebrate official opening of the ski season, or both.

This loot goes mainly into Melbourne coffers, or the Cardinals' benevolent fund. Just as later we play a marquee match in Sydney. There is also TV revenue when we play a pauper club. Or next marqee match is against Port Adelaide.

We are doing our bit, we are indirectly rattling the tins.

But basket casedom is a temporary affliction, witness the worst team of the '80s, St Kilda, or witness Port, or Richmond, or Sydney. So what is needed is good administration. We can help them with that, perhaps mentor their incompetents.

Neeld to be gone tonight. I knew Melbourne was bad, but today they are not even worthy of a VFL side.

If the MFC is serious it must get a new coach now. It can't afford to wait any longer.

I hope they keep Neeld. What point would there be bringing in a new coach now? Considering he'd be replaced by Craig or one of the other assistant coaches, the alternative is simply someone who's already at the club; that is, someone who is both partially responsible for the current situation and, like Neeld, part of the potential solution. Apart from serious cases where the head coach has just lost the plot or is unable to communicate with players, there's no real excuse for a mid-season sacking.

i thought it was their best drubbing this year. they showed a lot more intensity, intent and effort than in previous thrashings.

if melbourne were serious they would have retained bailey and got rid a few of the off field staff back in 2011.

The point of a new coach now is getting a head start on next season. Get the list sorted out and start the players remaining on a crash course in next year's game plan.

Neeld has zero percentage chance of being at Melbourne next year, so they have to start now. Otherwise every week from now on puts them further behind the eight-ball for 2014.

Sack him. Be decisive. Find someone who will turn that club upside down. Because right now they are a total embarrassment to the competition.

Could Melbourne sack two coaches in one year? Has it ever happened?
