Yep Witts took another step forward in his development tonight.
The thought of he and Grundy as a ruck duo in the coming years has me nursing a semi.
Very exciting but frustrating game to watch. The umpiring......auuughhhhh!Who was that bald headed p**** who kept taking the ball off us every time we looked like scoring?
Forward line was good tonight, but we need Reid to play up there more, otherwise it's too one dimensional.Backline was very poor tonight I thought. They looked like scoring just about every time they went forward. The backline needs to tighten up or we'll get thrashed in the finals.
And how good was it to see Beams back?He never missed a beat.He just slotted straight back into the same as if he never missed a game.Great effort!
i thought dwyer was fantastic
along with the other mids, except for blair.
elliot was disappointing
cloke is the new jesus christ - he is nailed to the cross
every game!
we don't eat our own at collingwood we just allow them to foul our nest.
Not a win crafted with precision skill and intense tackling/chasing pressure, just a sloppy, dour down and dirty grinding win. It had some exciting moments, usually when Kraks got his hands on it.
Pendles brilliant, having Ball back in the guts just lets Pendles squeeze a couple of meters outside the pack heat where he can swivel and shimmy his way through traffic, did it well tonight. Swan looking dangerous again, good to have the real Swan back.
I thought Sinclair recovered well to salvage his game from that shocking turnover which he could have let get to him. He is at his best when he can use his speed. To be fair that is his only real asset and he just has to use it as often as possible.
Welcome back Beamer. Looked rusty as you would but he will only get better. Young had an improved effort, started to find his way into the chain link through the arcs.
Big Farque Witts, now this kid could be anything. I think he needs to drop a few kilo's around the arse and thighs to improve his agility and speed and we could have a dominant force. Improve his kicking penetration too as he seems to not quite get the 50m. He can take a strong grab and is now showing he can win contests. I thought the Crows were able to push him under the ball a fair bit tonight, so something else to work on there, just hold his ground a bit more. I like the look of him for sure!
Now, to the elephant in the room...............those scumps and their relentless workplace harassment and clinical badgering of Clokey to the point where the man isn't even permitted to out wrestle a fellow strong man in Rutten to give himself a fair chance to take a mark because Rutten is holding on gorilla style was the most frustrating, disgusting and outright criminal act of the entire night. Apart from Cloke's accuracy it was the lowlight of the night. What made the treatment so unacceptable is the fact the scumps this year have become so lenient on the push out in one on ones that they let it go for so many other key forwards and backmen in the game but Clokey continues to get punished relentlessly. Ed, time to launch an official investigation into the rorting of our power forward. This injustice has gone on long enough. Give him a fair go, !
Go Pies!
RED "BABY" CAVANAUGH: Didn't hear what the bet was.
Slow starts are a worry. We cant afford to play so badly in the first quarter against top opposition. No pressure in the first quarter. We turned this around after, but it begs the question as to why the lack of intensity occurred at all.
No excuse that Adelaide was pumped because their season was on the line... we knew that and should have been ready for it.
But our resilience was fantastic, and is a great strength.
Thought Jarrod Witts demonstrated that he's on the money.
Dayne Beames...great return....
Thought that Josh Thomas played really wll when on the field...
Cloke...such a great player in his effort and his will to get the ball... umpires dont give him a chance...
Pendlebury... such a star. Go pies!
Good tough and hard fought win in the end by the Pies. Played against two teams tonight, the other the filthy fluro maggots who were dead against us. How is a forward supposed to outbody an opponent to win a contest? Made a lot of costly turnovers that resulted in goals, got exposed many times for not manning up. We have a habit of playing off opponents and giving them too much space. Need to work on delivery going forward. Handballed a bit too much. Cloke's kicking is still a liability. Had he been more accurate we would have won by more. Fortunately we had a cameo from the Krak and a few others. Love it when Reid goes forward. Witts starting to show more and more to which is promising. Great games from the usual suspects and our younger players are starting to make their mark on games now. Most importantly we played out the four quarters which is something that has been lacking up to now.
I'm happy with the win. Withstood a fast Crows start, some *(&^)( umpiring decisions, a bad night from Trav with the boot (he still played a really good game though) and a charge early in the fourth and ran right over the top of them.
I thought we played some electric footy in the last and only some ridiculous umpiring decisions involving Cloke kept us from putting it on the board.
How good is Pendles by the way? If Ablett is 1A in this comp, Pendles is 1B. Champion.
Great to see Beamer back and playing well too, bloody hell we've missed him.

@CollingwoodFC: @Brennyrc @dasheryoung It's in reference to a potential leg injury that may have been sustained late in the match.
@CollingwoodFC: To clarify re. @dasheryoung (who appeared to hurt his leg), the club will assess him ASAP but Young "doesn't like what it feels like."
Damn it. I really liked what I saw from him tonight. Last week showed some potential... Tonight I undertood why we recruited him and then that happens, if its the same hammy we may as well kiss goodbye seeing him until maybe finals but you would doubt we'd risk him then. Such a shame.
Man how good was Pendles tonight. And Dwyer. And Beams. Yeah ok you get the drift. Thought Caff ran his arse off to apply pressure too.
We'll take those fours points and turn our attention to next week. Just please please, pretty please don't hit the Gold Coast thinking it's a guaranteed win or they will destroy us.
15 goals to 6 after quarter time and they only had 4 goal kickers. Reid is the biggest wildcard and changed the game early in the 2nd qtr. When goldy is back we will have to wildcard swing men.
When the pressure is not there we can get cut up pretty easily. Ultimately that is what Bucks is working on, more consistency and defensive pressure when we don't have the ball.
Good honest win against a team that never threw in the towel tonight.
