It sounds lame but I reckon that was just one of those games that most sides have (Dees beating the Bombers a couple of years back/ Lions beating Cats). After playing well against better sides, I'm sure there was a subconscious mood within the group that they could just turn up, play a bit of razzle dazzle footy and class would win the day. Certainly for most of the game I thought we had the class to come back but it wasn't to be. Our continual fumbles and misdirected kicks (stats for marks received by opposition kicks must have been huge for Suns) gave the Suns confidence and they won as much as we lost. As good as Ablett was today he got more possessions last year and we won by 97pts so that tells me the Suns are coming along well. We have some amazing talent across the park and have won (and will win some) amazing games but if we take the wrong mental approach in we'll get done. GWS will get creamed next week.

Over-analysing it might be better than under-analysing it ....

We lost because the GC got a [snip] amount of draft concessions to make them competitive within their first 3 years so the AFL gets money in the bank.

I'm actually going to be embarrassed when Gold Coast win a premiership in a few years. Then again, a few years after that they wont be able to keep the squad together.

Elliott's mark.
It didn't rain during the game.

the negatives
Where to bloody start. I could write 5000 words but I won't.

why oh why is Maxwell captain?
Why is Witt's playing? He looks hobbled. He cannot run.
What is wrong with Heater? We acts like he has ADD.
Cloke. I blame the umpires for getting in his head again this week. The inconsistency of umpiring has turned him into a head case. can't kick.
We won the free kick count but there are still too any inconsistencies across the board. I'm over it.
I do not see us getting any better any time soon. Beams will get better after his long break. Ball will also get better. And the young guys should improve. 2013 is gone. Sorry. very disappointed right now. I'd rather lose to the hawks at the MCG than bloody Gold Coast. how the hell did we lose them. Even Melbourne beat them.
We are so far off the pace.
That probably because he does. I remember reading in an article a couple of years ago that he was diagnosed as a kid.

When you are smashed in the ruck it's hard to win any game of footy imo.

We need to forget about this year and start getting senior games into Grundy as we're going to need him big time next year after Hudson and (probably) Jolly retire at the end of this season.

They made better decisions. They had better skills. They worked harder.

Mentally, spiritually, physically weak and that's not today, it's a pattern.
Bad coaching and bad skills too.

This must be the 5th loss we had to have this year, laughable.

I don't have anything to say tonight. Other than the fact earlier in the season I flagged that we would find it hard to beat the Suns at Metricon.

The only other thing to say is that top four is no longer an option. Once again I told you so.

The ruck is our biggest problem, everything begins from your ruckman, all stoppages do and we are most weeks smashed at stoppages. If we do not shoe horn Bellchambers out of Essendon at season end I would be shocked. Offer him whatever or give Essendon whoever, just get him. Witts and Grundy not ready, Jolly & Hudson stuffed. Options are bare.

Just got beaten by the Gold Coast Suns, now I know what Richmond fans feel like. Never thought we'd fall so low.

Bloody disgrace- No excuses. We are only missing Brown. Thomas, Tooves and the Wee man to have our best team on the park.

Pathetic!.

I was saying this at the start of the season. Really with all the doping scandals etc, this has been the worst season in a long time. And we can't even take any consolation in cricket. I watched the Manchester United v A-League Allstars game tonight and United won 5-1. As a United fan I'm happy but, has Australian sport now reached the bottom of the barrel?

As soon as Paul Roos is interested. I'd take him as coach in a heartbeat. He'd have the players on side as well.

Melbourne is welcome to Eade. In fact we'll throw the rest of our coaching box in for free. Just take him please.
