I went to the Nottinghill Hotel for my 18th.

It was the closest pub to work, home and school & i'd been going there (off & on) for about 3 years.
I never took i.d because I had hair 1/2 wae down back (and a Billy Idol sneer) and none of the bouncers ever thought to ask how old I was.
~
anywae, I was there at a table with a bunch of friends (they had bought me a cake...with candles!) when Denis the head bouncer came over to see who's party it was.
"It's mine" I said with a smile.
"Congratulations 3.1, how old are you?"
"It's my 18th birthdae todae Denny"! I said with a cheeky grin.
"oh, "he said"..can I see your I.D?"
"I.d? ...errr, I don't have any i.D " :?
"Well, I'm sorry but I'm gunna have to ask you to leave...he said stoney faced.
"But, but, but, I ...I've been coming here for years... I stammered...(realizing almost instantly that I had put my foot squarely in my mouth.)
He smiled & said "I know, now hop it">>>>>> :!: .

It was a cold night and I left quietly and started to hitch-hike home.
3 cars passed me in about 1/2 an hour when I came to a phone booth.
so I took my last 10 cents and rang my mum.

She answered the phone bleary eyed.....sounding.
I told her I'd been thrown out of the pub because I had no id and needed a lift home.
"Your a pest, she replied and "where are you?".
"Fern-tree gully rd".
Oh ok I'll be there in .... you want a lift home?
"Yes".
"Which home?"..(fair enough question, I'd left her home over a year before).
"My place.....in Prahran".
She said "I'm sorry, you've called the wrong number", and hung up.
.. (what a grumpy bitch^^^^)
anywae>
"Fcnk! I'll call an effing taxi" I thunk to myself.
I reached into my pocket and pulled out 3 1 cent pieces a 2 and a couple of $10 dollar notes.... and then I looked at the 10 cent coin slot. :?

Oooops.

I walked till I got a lift.....

...I hitch-hiked a lot where I was young. (I once jumped a train in Norsman and ended up in Kalgooly instead of Esperence) .

I have many stories, funny, tragic, interesting and bizzare (sometimes all 4)
(& how I got home that night is one of them).

I'll tell you some sometime.
