With only hours to go now I'm starting to get anxious about us not selecting Lennon at pick 10.

I like Salem as well but Lennon despite being considered more a half forward was still able to average more disposals at TAC level than Salem.

Both have elite kicks going by reports while Salem has the edge in pace.

Lennon is taller though and considered an excellent mark and for me has more scope to become elite at AFL level because he's seen as a player who wants the ball in his hands at the big moments, to be the game changer and that's a quality all the great players possess.

For me while a different type of player to Pendlebury he seems to possess those indefinable qualities that sets him apart from the pack like Pendlebury did back in 05.

I'll be disappointed if we don't take Lennon at 10 especially so if Salem goes to Melbourne at 9 because while Freeman might have genuine speed his kicking is seen as suspect, along with decision making and those two skills are what we should be after at picks 6 and 10.

Besides a 50m bullet pass from Lennon will cover the ground quicker than any player can run.

Ugh, I just want it to be over already so we can get down to the business of convincing ourselves that whoever we chose was a steal and that we have two future brownlow medalists on our list

I can't see it as very likely but if Aish and Scharenberg were both there at pick 6 and Hine was almost certain Melbourne were going to choose Salem (who we're very keen on) could we pull a surprise and take Salem at 6 confident that Aish (the most likely of the two) would still be there at pick 10?

Of course if we were really keen on Freeman as well it might end up we'll get both as Melbourne find it impossible to overlook Aish.

Only Hine knows what his stratergy will be but it is going to be fascinating to see if he tries to be somewhat tactial at pick 6.

If we take Salem then you know he is.

Yes ,yes, yes, and yes.

When considering who the club should pick in my humble opinion, my thoughts are with, 1. Can he kick 2. The go home factor 3. Fitness (injuries) 4. pace and/or endurance plus others, so Lennon fits the bill.

i guess. i still can't really get over what appears to be daylight robbery going on. no team in the top 8 should be afforded this luxury.

am looking forward to tuning in tonight. no doubt nick's will be bursting. i am putting up dtm as odds on to post the first welcome thread. that's if he doesn't have a coronary or explode in a puff of dust.

My preference would be Bontompelli and Scharenberg, but that aint going to happen.

Given who's likely to be available, I'm hoping for Aish and Lennon.

6: Scharenberg

10: Lennon

Alternate? Bontempelli, but all of the likely top 10 look good to me. I'd pass on McCarthy though, we should be looking for tall mids and versatile flankers this year. McCarthy is more the type you'd pick up with a late 1st/early 2nd round pick, if he slipped that far.

The most interesting intriguing draft for us in years.

Pick 6; Scharenberg or Bontempelli. Preference, Scharenberg.
Pick 10; Freeman or Aish. Preference, Freeman.

Pick 67; Willsmore. preference, none.

cheers.

Sounds like you feel guilty mate :)

The system has been contrived and it is what it is. Our staff is making the system work for them and doing it really, really well.

The playing field isn't level and we are running up hill. Exploiting the "vagaries" of the system is the only way we are going to be able to compete against our dark overlords.

A core group of players including these two guys, Grundy, JT, Broomhead, Adams, Kennedy, Williams, Seedsman and Witts are going to wreak a decade's worth of destruction on opposition teams and it was assembled while we played finals every year.

Can you imagine what type of supporter you'd have to be to think Bucks wasn't on the right track?

Anyone know what time they begin selections?
