I wonder if the saints throw in a curve ball and take Scharenberg instead of Billings as expected it will make the dogs reconsider taking Bontempelli?

Definately swoop. KK at 5, surely then we'd take Bonts at 6. Billings wouldn't go past Briz at 7, Salem at 9, so we would end up with Aish or Freeman at 10.
I still want Scharenberg though. :!:

6 - Sharenberg ...best available @ 6. We need someone of his size and ability who can be our new rebound king from defence.

10- Lennon ... not best available midfielder, but by far best available forward. Still best available, but it's strikingly obvious we could do with a highly skilled and dangerous mid sized forward. Dekka may have thrown a red herring with his "best available" line. We have mids galore, plus other players like Marley and Fasolo puttting their hands up, so I think I'd prefer Lennon over even Aish.

Very exciting!

GO MAGGIES!!

We still have a Ball and our Golden Sack along with our Ferrous side rectum but we're seriously lacking in the phallic department. Josh Thomas is no John Thomas I'm sorry. We might have a Young CLINT but we haven't been able to find him on the park enough.

Anyone standing up in the potential draftees to fill this gaping hole in our list?
Clever!

Maybe Sam Heavyside? I'm sure there's some sort of phallic innuendo you could come up with there...

Ok I've made my decision and this it.

Drum roll please.

Pick 6-Scharenberg

The second coming of James Clement.

Pick 10- Lennon

The natural (stolen from EQ)

That combination mightn't please everyone but Lennon has that aura around him that is hard to define but one that I can't overlook and I hope Hine doesn't either.

If we go Aish at 6 then I think we should definitely take Lennon at 10 as a point of difference over another midfielder like Salem or Freeman.

Any two of Scharenberg, Aish and Lennon and I'll be stoked.

Salem and Freeman next in line.

McCarthy the wildcard.

Swoop, this was my call about three months ago and i would love that outcome as you get your long term quarterback and the third tall to compliment White and Cloke perfectly.

However, I am also starting to buy into the idea that our midfield is a bit one paced (we get burnt on the counter a lot more than we should against teams like Hawthorn and Sydney) and could use the burst speed of a Salem or Freeman.

It will just be fascinating to see where we end up here.

I expect that at 6 we are choosing between Aish and Scharenberg I would be happy with any of the following combo's

Scharenberg with Aish, Salem, Freeman or Lennon
Aish with Lennon or McCarthy

I understands freeman is the quickest of the top 10 yes? It may give him a look in at 10. Pace is definitely something we need.
No Pressure, No Diamonds

They used to be a happy team at hawthorn.

God I hope we don't pass on Scharenberg if he's available at pick 6.

No one else this highly rated offers what he does whereas with Aish we could secure a decent alternative to him at pick 10.

Aish to me is probably like a Sidebottom and while that isn't necessarily a bad thing do we really need another player who is a smart footballer but isn't a penetrating kick or overly quick and is seen as a bit of a softish outside player.

I'd rather someone with elite kicking (Lennon/Salem) or extreme speed (Freeman) playing that role.

Sorry but didn't you just say in another thread that the club reckon Oxley is a carbon copy of the 'berg? That they are likely to pick Aish because Buck's knows the family from Adelaide? Confused..... :o :?
