Pies to play in London

Post by Mike »

On the news the other night. Collingwood v. Freo in London in October.

A chance for you blokes to get to meet the (by then) reigning premiers at the inevitable pre-during-post-match function(s).

A bit more info for you Londoners.

They got a crowd of 12,000 last year. Think it might be a tad more this year somehow, as Mike said to welcome the 2003 Premier and all.

I s'pose us locals better get our poo poo together and organise a do to celebrate....from memory, game kicks off at 12 noon, but it's handy to the Pub we've met up at before. Anyways, I figure the afl will eventually eke out a few more details.

Well seems that Mike has got in b4 we could announce everything that is going on. Simon heard the rumour a couple of weeks ago and I contacted the club for confirmation. they wrote back last week confirming that there would be a game on. Today I have learnt that it will be on Oct 10th, of course at the Oval. (mind you, not from the club, but from the newsletter!!).
The one concern I have, is the lack of enthusiasm we seem to have at the moment from the club to be involved in some kind of function. But I have written an update, that all London memebrs will get soon, when Merissa sends it out.

Mark, you should now have my email re the Roebuck. If Collingwood cant seem fit to squeeze us in somehow for their pre match deal, then we can always book out the Roebuck for a wacking great private function after the game.

Anyway guys, the gist of the email you have coming. I have suggested we get together on either Sat August 23 or Sunday August 31 to plan our attack and to see what plans we want for the future of our group.

Apologies for not getting the minutes done yet of our first meeting but to be honest I have been working a very hectic schedule and have found it hard to keep up with anything else.

Hope to see you all there at our meeting.Let me know your preferred date.

8) Hoping to make the trip to the big smoke from up here in sunny Manchester. However, my first priority is to see the Mighty Pies win the Premiership in 2003 at the MCG, madly saving the pennies for the trip over.

Fantastic to hear that you might be coming to London, via Melbourne Stephen. Please send me an email if you are coming along and we will keep an eye out for you.
We might start putting some sort of b and b rate together, as it seem there may be a few travelling down and it may help ppl if we get a good buying rate at one of the local pubs.
