(On another note, when you say that paedophiles should be lined up against the wall and shot, are you talking about just child molesters or all people who are sexually attracted to children?)[/quote]
if they act on those feelings, yep

Well, due to the IOC's decision to award the 2014 Winter Olympics to a repressive state like Russia, these games thankfully won't be free from either.think positive wrote:im not sticking up for anyone, I just want politics and sex left out of the olympics

Realistically, we can find fault with any country hosting the games, summer or winter. No country is free of faults.David wrote:Well, due to the IOC's decision to award the 2014 Winter Olympics to a repressive state like Russia, these games thankfully won't be free from either.think positive wrote:im not sticking up for anyone, I just want politics and sex left out of the olympics

Indeed, but it's the obscene whitewashing of those faults every time the games roll into town that bugs me. I'd be fine if the Summer and Winter Olympics were just some meaningless sporting event (like, say, the soccer World Cup) held every two years in locations around the world, but it's the host countries that choose to spend billions of dollars to stage them and then turn the whole thing into a nationwide PR/propaganda exercise. The hypocrisy really stinks, and particularly regressive countries like Russia deserve all the flak that comes their way. What'sinaname wrote:Realistically, we can find fault with any country hosting the games, summer or winter. BTW, Stui, I don't know if you're including me in that, but I never suggested TP was a homophobe. I just think that Putin's justification, together with the policies that he's justifying, are extraordinarily insidious and shouldn't just be accepted with a shrug and an "oh well, fair enough".
