Sorry, David. I meant to respond to your question with a brief, point-form summary of the main things wrong with Abbott - just the really serious ones, not the trivia - but the computer crashed and I lost the post when I was half-way through typing it in. Er ... page 104, I think I was on.

It sounds like Tony had a bit of a tanty about not getting the armchair ride he got in opposition. It seems to me that the coalition is doing far more damage to Australia's reputation than the ABC ever could, with the lack of respect to our closest and populous neighbour Indonesia being one example.

Indeed. For every firecracker the ABC lets off, Abbott and his loonie crew throw one of these:

Malcolm Turnbull has defended the ABC and Clive Palmer has chimed in on twitter : No surprise that @TonyAbbottMHR has been bashing @abcnews - he's just following orders from @rupertmurdoch

Could there be a senate election in WA in the air?

Abbott's desire for local news outlets to portray Australia and its navy in a positive light is far from unique. Here's where this mentality invariably ends up:

http://www.theguardian.com/world/2014/j ... reputation
Tony Abbott wrote:I was very worried and concerned a few months back when the ABC seemed to delight in broadcasting allegations by a traitor, this gentleman Snowden, or this individual Snowden, who has betrayed his country and in the process has badly damaged other countries that are friends with the United States. Of course, the ABC didn't just report what he said; they took the lead in advertising what he said.
I find this all dreadfully sinister.

By the way, how about him agreeing with serial liar and racist Ray Hadley that there's a "double standard" in him and Alan "Cash for Comment" Jones being pursued by the ACMA while the ABC gets off scot(t)-free? As if they're somehow two sides of the same coin? Perhaps when the ABC's presenters blatantly misrepresent statistics to stir up anti-refugee sentiment they'll get a few more complaints, Ray.

^ Ha. If Abbott has his way, that's the future of Australian media.

When it comes to the Sunday Sport, I'd say it's probably the high point of their journalistic endeavour. We're not exactly talking the New York Times here!

If you replace the word "Hooker" with the word "Woman", isn't that statement still 100% true?

Or is that just me.

No wonder the public health system is always short of funds - discovered today that medical specialists get $22,000 a year for Continuing Medical Education

That is just a ridiculous amount - especially given how many beds are disappearing and the ever increasing wait time for elective surgery!

At the risk of tipping you over the edge, you also know that it's tax free?

Hey Stu, how about letting us know how much consultants get F/T per year & all their entitlements?

Then add the things like cheap home-loans & investments etc. loans etc
