I ride on bike paths! I don't go near the road, can't hear anything coming up behind me and I get a fright, so I'm scared I'll wobble into their path, even if they do see me!
many bike lanes are not wide enough to cater for the opening of car doors. when this is the situation i will always ride on the edge of the bike lane and sometimes in the car lane.

with regards to culprit's experience with two bike riders, there is nothing illegal about riding two abreast but cyclists and motorists should be considerate of each other.
im talking about next to the golf course, no cars parked on the side of the road, one lane each way for traffic, and not that wide, road just asks to be sped on! there is a bike lane either side, I rode on it years ago, its a pretty even surface, and plenty wide enough, yet they ride on the line.

whats considerate about 2 cyclists riding side by side on a one lane each way road? how the hell do you get past them? peak hour taking kids to school, or going to work, traffic full both sides of the road, and you get blocked by cyclists.
you miss my point. i think cyclists should also consider that if they ride two abreast there will be occasions they need to form an indian file. even when i cycle one of the things that annoys me is when cyclists block a left hand turn lane and prevent a car turning on the arrow.

lots of things are just common sense.

That's a good example. Why not just move your bike a bit to the next lane.

Mind you I think I piss off the next driver who is going straight after the left turns have used the arrow & after I've moved back into the designated bike park area (which is often oblivious to or ignored by drivers).

In the heat of the afternnon riding home I had a fair exchange of words with a lycra clad cyclist who was a tad precious & he ended up going through a red light. Gave him a bit of what for.

Got to use myt favourite line (from a work colleague) in Swanston Street to a van driver who was driving with out regard to others or the road rules "your lucky I'm off duty, because what you've done could have cost you..."

turned a corner on a rough track this morning, and a yuppie's coming the other way, we both came around blind corners in the middle of the track (its about 4 feet wide) I pulled left, and he pulled my left too!! no where to go, so I braced and kept the front wheel straight, he blinked and turned to (my) left, into the fence, I hit his wheel on an angle, he dived of and hit the fence, no helmet!! poor bugger!! he gets up in his work clothes, and I said" road rules mate, keep left!!" he was so apologetic!! asking if im alright as he tried to straighten his mangled handle bars!! im like, um, your the one on the ground!! ill have a bruise on my left shin in a few days, but ill live!!

he was still apologizing as I rode off, I screamed back "well my daughters behind me somewhere, please keep LEFT!! cheers!!'

Bought a new front headlight today, made me happy. Took me long enough the old one had tape over it, fell off etc...

This one: wow.

Moon 5 LED, ridiculous lumen but on less than full, I'll be seen!

I'm not usually one to complain about cyclists, but I was pretty shocked by the behaviour of one today. Approaching a red light heading south on St. George's Road, a cyclist swerved in front and sat directly in the middle of the lane in front of me signalling his intention to turn right. That's totally fine, except for the fact that I was going straight.

When the light turned green and he continued to just stand there, I beeped the horn at him (a very rare occurrence for me) and asked him politely if he could move over a bit. When he ignored me and stayed exactly where he was, I had to very slowly swerve into the left lane and squeeze past. I know that cyclists need to use the road too, and that I would have been equally stuck if it had been a car in front of me trying to turn right (although it would have at least moved into the intersection in preparation to turn), but why sit in the middle of the lane like that and not the right-hand side to allow cars to get past? It's almost as if he was trying to prove a point.

Because he was no doubt a douche who was trying to prove a point. They're a minority of cyclists but they **** things up big time for the majority by pissing off motorists.

+1.

No need to do that at all. I get in front of cars when I'm turning but not if they're going straight ahead.

I particularly like to sit behind car exhausts (NOT).
