I've just set up a computer (with internet) at home, but I keep getting an error message when I try to bring up this site (www.magpies.org.au/nick). Does it have anything to do with configuring servers (whatever that means!)?
If you can't help me, I guess I'll just have to wait until I'm at work to check out this forum!
Another question for Nick/Mike

Are you able to get other sites? If you can there is no reason that you shouldn't be able to get this one.
If you're having trouble with all sites except your ISP's site, it means that you don't have the correct proxy settings set in your browser. Your ISP should have told you the proxy settings to use. If not, go to their web site and have a bit of a search around.
Email me if you're still having problems and let me know what error message you're getting and who your ISP is.

you could try deleting your temporary internet files from Internet Explorer. It could be a corrupt file that's preventing you from accessing the page. just click on Tools, then Internet options.
alternatively, you can just delete then reinstall Bigpond. it should have come with a CD so you should have no problem doing this.

I don't know what you're on about junkboy75... the problem has NOTHING to do with the temp internet files. its just the way the url has been entered that's the problem.
as Mags said: the URL is http://www.magpies.org.au/nick/
dont forget the forward slash!

Kristen, check your typing, make sure you've included the .au Trailing slashes make a difference on some domains, but shouldn't effect this one, but give it a try. You don't need to worry about proxies if you're not having any trouble with other sites.
ytry4, junkboy's suggestion has merit. There's no need to knock just because you think you have the answers.

Sorry Mike, but the temporary internet files suggestion has got nothing to do with the problem kirsten is having... she didnt say the page is not updated to the latest one, which is why you would normally delete the temp files. I think only this page is giving her trouble.
i occasionally get the same problem as kirsten as well, by forgetting (or not bothering) with the forward slash.
